Someone posted a link to an Assassin's Creed costume, and something else caught my eye and now I'm looking at putting together a costume inspired from the Coruscant Nights book series. (If you haven't read it, it follows Jedi Knight Jax Pavan as he becomes essentially a private investigator on Coruscant after the rise of the Empire. They're good reads - I'd recommend them.) Pavan's look on the covers is very Solo-with-a-lightsaber, to be honest, but I like it. Anyhow, this is what I've come up with for my version, and the good news is that a lot of the stuff is off-the shelf or will require only simple modifications. Anyone got any thoughts?

Team Fortress 2 Medic Jacket (http://www.cosplaymagic.com/tefo2meco.html)
I'm going to try and find out exactly how the red cross insigniae are on the jacket (patch, iron-ons, etc) and see if I can get it without them. I'll also pick up some RIT dye and recolor it - I'm debating between tan, dark brown, or dark green.

5.11 Long-Sleeved Tactical Cotton Shirt (http://www.uscav.com/prod_6840_tabID_548&cmCS=1)
Geting this in khaki.

5.11 Tactical Cotton Pants (http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?productID=6758&TabID=548) with gold Solo-style stripes (http://www.costumecostumecostume.com/patches.htm)
This part is going to be a bit interesting - I'm going to get the pants in brown, and hopefully the stripes will match the pants. Hopefully. (Probably going to end up having to play with the dyes some more.)

5.11 Tactical Vest (http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?productID=6845&TabID=1)
(What can I say? 5.11 has some good stuff.) Get this in black. On the covers of the book, Pavan actually wears a tuxedo-style vest, but since I've already modified the look some, I'll do it a bit more with the utility-style vest. (That, and I like having pockets on my costumes.)

Black Tanker Boots (http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?productID=5713&TabID=1&CatID=384)
Well, it's cheaper than most Star Wars boots I've seen around. (God knows it's cheaper than MotorCowboy!) I think the straps will help with the look. I don't know how long the gold stripes are, so to compensate for the lower boots I'll probably end up buying two sets. Or I might decide not to use them at all, to better differentiate between this costume and a Han Solo.

Lightsaber
The first one is already physically in-hand and as soon as my US2 orders get here I'll be putting electronics in it. The second one is the one I'd rather use, but it's involved enough I'm going to be holding off on building it for a while. In the books, Pavan's used a yellow blade and a red blade, and I've got K2 emitters and stars for both, so I'll probably carry those around with me, plus my default green K2.

DL-44 (http://www.blast-tech.com/products_compDisplayPieces_T1DL44.asp)
I've been looking for an excuse. Now I have one. (Plus, didn't Erv put a Blaster Core in one of these?)

Han Solo belt (http://mattmp.home.att.net/hansolo.htm)
This guy hasn't updated his site since 2006, so I may have to get it from eBay. Unless someone has a better source for one, and/or knows this guy's still around and kicking.

Belt greeblies (http://members.aol.com/corellianexports/PropPage.html)
Stumbled across these, actually. Anyone know what else I can/should put on the belt? (Probably going to end up making a few food capsules, too, just for that extra prequel Jedi feel.)

Someone on the Rebel Legion boards who's ordered from him before was saying that MP Productions is going to be going out of business soon. You might want to find out about that, before you get all excited about getting a Han Solo belt from him. He doesn't seem to be good at updating his website very often.

Thanks for posting those links!
I think it's likely that I'll be getting some gear from that site after I have the pricey parts of my sabre covered.

Thanks for the tip. If it comes down to it Plan B for the gunbelt is CostumeBase. I'd like to get the one from MP Productions, but I don't know that this would be Rebel Legion standard - if I recall, their standards are very similar to the 501st, and since this is essentially a custom character... *shrug*

Either way, I appreciate the heads up!

Well, the Costumebase ones aren't real leather, and according to one of our Hans at the RL, The costume base holster won't fit a Hasbro toy and has to be modified to fit a Mauser based blaster.

Many of the RL Hans prefer the MP Productions Solo belts. I've seen an the MP belts in person, they are nice. I prefer real leather, though $300 is a lot. But there is also a lot of work that goes into one of those.

FYI - the bloodstripes are 32" long, as stated in the item description. ;-)

Anyway - I look forward to seeing your progress. I'm going to have to read this series now, as you gotten me rather interested!!!

Sounds great, I am gonna have to check out that series of books. I too also want to do I smuggler/rogue looking force user. everything you picked out looks awesome...but the vest I think would look too busy with the rest of the stuff, like a Jedi gone fishing. good luck and I look forward to seeing some progress or drafts or something. I actually just made what I am calling a DL44-J (jedi version-no scope) and my own holster, which I plan on redoing after halloween. I will post the pattern and materials list after I redo it. check this out too. they are out of stock, but cheap.

Well, like I said, CostumeBase is Plan B. I'd really like to get the MP Productions belt, but there's that whole "finances" thing that I have to work out first, plus Christmas is coming, plus I'm saving for Dragon*Con... Mostly I'm just trying to figure out a holster that'll fit. One of the other ideas I had in the back of my head was talking to The Vest Guy (www.thevestguy.com) and see if I can commission him to do a nylon/cordura holster. I've got one of his BSG blaster holsters, and it's pretty good, so I'm confident in his work.

They're what? *goes back, reads* And so they are. Serves me right for skimming.

I did think about getting a cheap airsoft Mauser and modding it myself, but eventually I ended up deciding I was going to get the stuff from Blast-Tech simply because their base pistol is metal, and the kit seems to be a good price for metal parts, as well. I've not decided if I'm going to pay the extra twenty bucks and have them put it together for me or do it myself, though.

I did see your DL-44-J thread, and I'm keeping an eye on it as another belt option. (I'll just need a version for a right-handed person. ;) )

yeah mine is on the left just because my saber is on the right( I am taking an aggressive stance) My mauser is completely metal, I got that one at 411 toys, but it only comes with the long clip.http://www.toyarsenal.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=4T&Product_Code=CM71292&Category_Code=520
