I ordered some round copper for some sabers I'm making but instead I recieved brass. Would this make a good heat sink because I'd hate to have just ended up with pretty brass paper weights

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Brass has a melting point of around 900 degrees. It should work fine since any metal will dissipate heat produced by the LED.

Thanks for the info

To add some information, Brass has a thermal conductivity about equal to Aluminium. Depending on the project you are working on it should be good for most average projects. If you are looking at using a really high wattage LED, like the tri-rebels and LEDengins, you may want to keep an eye out for copper, as copper has a much high thermal conductivity and will dissipate the heat much faster.
