Hey guys, wasn't sure I wanted to post this one as its just my first attempt but I thought "What the hell". I will be selling this one on the 'Bay to fund further MHS/ and hopefully some buttered toast. I need a name for it though, any ideas?

MHS grab bag parts
center section grooves machined and enameled by me.
MR Vader board driving a Seoul P4 Green
Blade is a thickwalled, externally/internally sanded with Tim's diffuser tube and magic film inside that in a Quad wrap. Used a 3/4 inch mirror I found in bulk at the craft store and dremmeled off a dot of the silvering on the back to let some light into the tip.

Thanks to all you vets out there for answering my questions and giving me ideas.

Hope you guys like.

nice job fender, i take it that is a guitar string i see in between the sections. how did you get the ends to stay together? glue or screwing sections together? and as for name how bout borrowing something similar to your interests and name like stratosaber.

Actually those are round springs that I found in the local surplus store. They work like o-rings in that they can go in the groves and what not but I like them to separate otherwise plain sections. Stratosaber........hmm........

I have to agree on the name for that one. That is a class looking saber and everyone knows fender strats are classy guitars. Hence, I concur and would second the motion for the official name to be "Stratosaber"

Thanks, Or maybe 'LightCaster'.

I like Lightcaster, it still links to guitars, but also sounds like what a saber (and a Jedi for that matter) does.

A vote for Lightcaster...truth in advertising.

How about "Groove" for the obvious groove in the middle and the guitar theme...

Beutiful work, by the way, FenderBender: simple and elegant. (from a more cilivized age)

I like LightCaster. Also sounds like a Jedi Name. That's why even though I like it, it's not for me. LoL Mine would be more like Shadowcaster, but I wouldn't want to make people think I got the Idea from Jedi Loreen Shadowchaser.

Voting for Lightcaster as the name. If you name it Stratosaber, you'd get a lot of people telling you a Telesaber would cut through the mix better. :)

Yeah, but it would be too twangy in tone, and fit more for a cowboy Jedi.

The spirit of the saber should dictate its name. Something along the lines of "the Cadet", "The Novice", or "the Initiate" would fit well. Maybe even Virgenesse or Acolyte.

Yeah, but it would be too twangy in tone, and fit more for a cowboy Jedi.

Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Strummer, Bob Dylan, Albert Collins, Steve Cropper, Johnny Greenwood, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Muddy Waters, Johnny Lang and Andy Summers would all like to have a word with you.

Oh, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top collects Fender Esquires (single-pickup "student model" varient of the Telecaster).

And I think I see Keith Richards shaking his head in disapproval too. :-P

from wikipedia
"the first commercially successful solid-body electric guitar was the Fender Esquire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Esquire)"

Since it's your first MHS, Esquire seems fitting.

ya know lately i've been seeing people selling their lightsabers that they either did themselves and or from their collection...kinda makes me sad...but whatever......

I did not make this one to keep. I made it to see for myself that I could. I do like Esquire though. I will be using the proceeds to further the Saber hobby.

Sometimes life dictates what we must do. I hate to sell them, but who has the space to keep more than 50 lightsabers????

do you have a picture of all 50?

Actually, I've built/converted 58 to this point. I sold 7 of them, so i have 51 left (I thought I'd done 100, but I actually have 17 hilts sitting on the bench that are not technically "built" because they have no electronics or are not completed to some degree) I also have a complete MR set including EL luke ROTJ and (AOTC Anakin hopefully soon!) Plus I have a DT custom, 5 Ultrasabers stunts, 4 pre-made ultra FX's (from before I could do it myself), and 4 other various customs from various sabersmiths and about 12 different Parks, WHEW... and for the climax...No I don't have a pix of everything, although I have thought of lighting everything (that is not in a box) that is on the wall in my workshop (aka garage) and taking a pix, but I've been too lazy to put batteries into all of them at once! If I ever do take that pix, I'll post it here first!:p

BTW I am just putting the finishing touches on my first 100% custom brass saber today, which I will post very soon! MUUUAHAhahahahahhahahahahhahaha!
