I've got a nasty bit of Spyware on my computer... it isn't letting me access my Anti-Virus, Spybot-Search and Destroy, keeps turning off my Firewall. Can any body help???

Try this for starters. It will scan your machine remotely.

Crap...

Do you have another PC or a friend nearby that has one? It sounds like you need to have a bootable CD you can put in to scan the sucker as it boots. There are several free ones online, but you'd have to download and burn them from a different PC to make sure it was clean.

ctrl alt delete, and then click on processes and see if you can locate anything different about the normal things you run that are not under the classification of system

Sounds like that PITA Antivirus2009 or one of the variants hit you.

If you can still get to the web, check out this one:

Its about the only thing that seems to actually remove it, and i've to do so on at least 2 pc's now.

can you boot in safe mode and run your AV? or do the web scan?

I have enjoyed NOD32 for a while now..works a treat.

NOD32 is the best...

Malaki shut down and select your boot mode while your computer starts up.. I think F1... not 100% on that...

it depends on the machine..

it can be F4, F12 or F8 even... but when you POST screen (boot screen) comes up.. (black screen with jibbersh to most).. it will say what keys do what..it will only display quickly.. but hitting one of the options mentioned above will usually get you to it..

and choose Safe Mode with networking..
