My MR Luke ROTJ was acting a bit funny... not always powering on. I took it apart this morning to take a closer look. This is what I found:

An awesome conversion done by someone without a soldering iron or heat source to shrink down the shrink tube over the wire connections. The wires weren't even twisted into tight spirals before "attaching" them to the others.

The spaghetti man strikes again. Who the F**K converted is like that?!?!? They should be SHOT!

I kid you not; that is exactly what it looked like when I opended up the two halves of the MR black housing tube the board is attached to. Not sure if the unsoldered wire ends or the shrink tube made me laugh harder.

To me it looks like one of them DIY conversion kits you can get that reuses the stock MR bladeholder and blades, now I cant tell but is that a full metal bladeholder?

One other observation, where is the shock sensor that's supposed to be attached to the positive lead?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Not laughing at you... just the fact that whoever did that thought that it was an "acceptable" or even "adequate" means - oh my christ... I actually am laughing my blank off....

hoo.... Yeah, that sucks. heehee :D

I've opened up some saber hilts that -had I taken pictures- would absolutely destroy certain reputations... It truly is sad (or funny) sometimes...

Wow, where'd you buy that? Off of evilbay?

What audacity to sell something that horribly done!

He could have at least used a cigarette lighter on the heat shrink. That would have hidden his lack of soldering, and probably kept the the connections together a little longer.

"Audacity" yes yes, good word... that or sheer "apathy"... it just kills me THE HEAT SHRINK ISN'T EVEN SHRUNK!!! OMG!! I'm rolling again...

Thats a mace or a luke board and the sensor is mounted on the board.

The person who did that must have been thinking, "Let me incorporate this sound module with a luxeon led...red wire to red wire...ah...screw it...."

Lets be fair, maybe he had a good reason for doing it like that...
maybe he was bitten by a soldering iron as a kid

I could, possibly, just understand someone being too lazy, or inept to do the soldering. BUT... to go to the effort of cutting the lengths of heat shrink tube, putting them over the joins and then not heating it so it shrinks  I don't get it. After all the clue is in the name.

Easy enough to fix though and I learned that taking apart the Luke is extremely easy. Now I can switch from this Ultra "hero" emitter to a Maul version to extend it a bit.

Even if the lazy bastard didnt like soldering irons, the LEAST he could have done is use butt/crimp connectors. Sad.

What makes this situation SO DOUCHY, is at least spaghetti guy was doing that for his own purposes - fine, great, be happy where you won't hurt anyone... lame-o conversion dude, went out of his way to pawn it off to someone else... that's my prime definition of piss-poor customer service. If I ever see crap like this again first-hand, trust me, people will know about it... absolute BS...

MaverickJsmith

I need to witness this magic for myself first hand *gets some bread, toaster, butter, garlic, cinamon, sugar, and waits for his toast to finish*

While I'm waiting for that, Jesus that's...I'm not sure there's a word that hasn't been used here yet for that.

...Oh wait, pathetic. There we go, yes pathetic.

That is the most Pathetic (needed to use a capital p) conversion, no-Wiring job I have ever seen. It's the worst because this was actually SOLD to someone (my sympathies B).

Sweet freaking lord. Find this guy and bean him on the head with a club for me, no all of us. God that's terrible.

This just chaps my hide *toast pops* Ohhhh! Magic time~

No, no, silly, you don't put garlic on it with cinnamon and sugar! It's one or the other. Garlic toast or cinnamon toast.

All those together? Eeewww. http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/images/smiles/Sick.gif

I'm still just happy that I got a "converted" Luke ROTJ for a pretty good price. Now Nova's video is funny! Imagine getting that out of your hilt.

Jedi-Loreen

Well, since there was no soldering done at all, that's not saying much.

Nova, where did you find that picture of that monstrosity?

Maverick

P.S. Very interesting results from the toast. Not sure I'd do it again though.
