It occurred to me that most of the lightsabers that I'd seen here were replicas of (or inspired by) the weapons from Star Wars.

But lightsabers show up in other genres as well.

This saber is inspired by the tenchi-ken, one of the primary weapons owned by the lead character in the anime, 'Tenchi Muyo!'. Juraian technology is largely organic, literally grown from trees.

The sword has a blue blade...but my picture of the lit sword didn't come out so hot. Ah, well. I'll take more pics later.

Next up...the Goru Nova from 'Slayers'. :)

very cool, I always thought that the emitter was metal or plastic, rather than made of wood like the hilt...

Very nice, very fitting for the living force. Somehow I feel such a dark wood hilt suits a green blade better, but that's just me. Love the hilt. :)
