Check You Tube for soldering tutorials. There are links to several good ones on this forum. Tim sells a starter electronics kit (no sound) that contains the switch, LED, star, heat sink, lens and lens holder and the battery container.

Other than that, keep checking the electronics and other forums here.
Good luck, and don't be in to big of a hurry. There is no worse feeling than sweating over a design for weeks only to screw it up because you rushed.

Erv at www.plecterlabs.com has a great soldering tut.. and it actually really helps to 'tin' the wires and connections FIRST..

some other tips.. make sure you use the right gauge solder.. I like to use very thin solder.. so I dont plop it everywhere and ruin stuff..

the kits are fairly straight forward.. if you arent using any sound or driver..

also you may wantto use a BUCK PUCK instead of what is called DIRECT drive (led to resistor to batt. pack) it gives a more even draw on the power source.. and keeps a constant current to your LED

you can also mess with www.saberbuilder.com to get a visual of how your project will look with differnt parts..and to check coloring or custom powder coating...etc

hrm...interesting parts. Take a look at the basic sink tube tutorials. You could get a sink tube and cut it to cover the parts. A 45 degree cut on one end of the sink tube makes a great shroud. Sink tubes scratch easily and you have to be sure you get the right gauge to slide over the parts. You may have to drill additional holes in the blade holder as well. A covertec clip looks good as well. However, the sink tube and covertec clip can be added later if you want to "dress up" the saber. Custom modding requires some decent skills so if you don't want to risk damaging parts and are happy with the basic MHS setup then cool. I should also mention that black O-rings are nice for the grip section.
