So, I know electrum was reserved for high ranking Jedi, but did it serve any purpose? Or was it just used for the color?

In my knowledge, it's mostly for decor.

in later times it was a mark of rank, only allowed for jedi council members, the sith probably had no such restriction, I've never seen anything to say it's other than purely decorative.

Yeah, it was just a type of metal used for sabers. Made primarily of gold, but also had silver, copper, and a few other metals. It was put on sabers as a sign of Force mastery.

Yea, it's the gold colored parts.

yeah electrum is a real metal, it's a naturally occuring gold/silver aloy, I've never heard that it was resistant to lightsaber blades though, I thought phrick and cortosis were the only such materials.

I've also never heard that it was a lightsaber blade repellant either...

Im also sure it can be simulated. Has anyone tried this? I know plenty of people have done gold and brass, but have they tried an actual version of electrum?

polished brass sink tube looks like high gold content electrum, if you have a windu saber look at the brass accents, those are supposed to be electrum.
