Well, I've been planning this for a while and finally decided to cut the sink tubes today (Screwed up the first time 4 months ago). This is a really confused Obi-saber. It uses the grenade grip for the center and ROTS-look pommel. This thing feels very long. It's 12.5", but I'm planning on shortening this thing with a shorter collar and replace the pommel with V2 whenever it comes back into stock.

I'm running the guts from 616 kit (I like to be both good and evil).

Update: More pictures on next page.

I actually placed the activation on the bottom of the pommel by threading in the push on/off button in the store with the switch bezel nut. Looks weird but it works. Also, the pommel looks too small with the rest of the hilt, so it needs the pommel 3v2.

Will update when I get to sanding and painting.

Finally TCSS got the parts I wanted back in stock and now I must say this saber feels much better. It's exactly 11" long (giggity, giggity, goo). I ended up shortening the saber by 2". Now I'm considering opening up the grip a little more to further expose the hand-grenade piece.

Lastly, the new pommel is HEAVY.

Couldn't figure out where to mount the activation switch so I'm going to sneek one into the grip...

Finally after 6 months of screwing up, I've finally got something here.

Painted and assembled. Pretty finished now. I'm still considering the red & gold knurled knobs, but it might get in the way of dueling so...

BTW it's not champagne colored. It's the flash and curtains.

I didn't want to use the rgb prolite, so I went with the white lux III I had. Also, changed the battery to 4 AAA w/ premium speaker.

looks great, but I think you should paint the thin neck and the pommel black or that silver

I love it! Man that is actually very neat. I love the switch placement too. Yeah the bigger pummel and smaller choke point look better. the white blade is a nice touch. How does it stand in a duel?

I don't really want to paint the neck as that's where I'll be "kung-fu gripping" so it's better without paint in that area. I may consider the pommel black later-on.

As for dueling, this should be rather sturdy since all parts are mhs. The sink tubes are all held solid inplace by the covertec knob and blade retainer screw.

what kind of paint are you using? because all you would most likely have to do is sand a scrap up the visible part of the neck section then seal it (if you do this make sure to cuver the threads with somthing)

I'm just using metallic enamel. I'll think it over tonight. I used to do body work, so I'm familiar with prep and paint. I just don't really like the feel of it is all.

sure, it is your saber. Another thought would be either black duct tape or electical tape.

Duct tape... haha. No thanks. But here, you'll like this...

With that finish/paint it looks a little more... industrial. Like it's desgined to be more hard-wearing and take a few knocks.

Indeed this things is much more solid than I had intended. Once the paint settled in and the sink tubes were in place, the feel of saber became more "real" to me. It's the most heaviest saber I've built with the same internals as the rest. It's my very own beloved piece.

After all this time, I've decided to post this saber up on ebay. Money is pretty tight right now, so to improve my 'poor student' situation I'll be selling all my lightsabers over the 2 months left this year. Thanks for all your support guys and maybe I'll build another one someday.

EDIT sorry about that. Just search for it. Thanks.

I think its best you remove the auction link as it breaks Tims rules ;)
