Yo, as my creative juices are slowed by the glut of sabers that I have produced over the past few months, I needed something new and exciting to do so that I can rekindle the "saber love". Here it is. This is my personal favorite EU hilt. It is an older parks QV EL saber that I bought about a year ago and have not had the stones to mess with. Last night is said the proverbial Fu$% it and just went for it. 2 Hrs and 5 new cuts on my hands later, the parks inverter was in the trash and an MR sith soundcard driving a Lux III bin 1 cyan led (4 aaa batteries and a HO speaker) were shoehorned into the hilt. I used the original switch, which is a little quirky and needs to be replaced eventually, and a left a couple of non-essential screws out (so sone cyan shows under the shroud). The emitter is aluminum and holds a 3/4" blade which I have to order still, so th pix and video are "bladeless". Enjoy!:shock:

Very nicely done - good job! What's that part that LED and lens are sitting in? Was that part of the inverter?

Very nicely done - good job! What's that part that LED and lens are sitting in? Was that part of the inverter?

It is a 1.5" long 1.009 ID 1.013 OD piece of aluminum tube. Inside is housed the heatsink, LED and lens. The heatsink is made up of four 1" aluminum washers and three 1/2" steel ones joined with thermal epoxy. elegant and functional. Fits perfectly inside the hilt and butts directly to the bladeholder/emitter.

Good job Dottore! What's the overall length and general OD of the hilt?

Also... in some ways, it's nice to have that light shining through the holes unless those screws need to be there for structural integrity.

Thanks Paisan!

Yeah, the shine through is really growing on me, I am leaving it for now, because I can always fill it later if I get sick of it! I will check the measurements and post them tonight when I get home from saving the world!!!

I'll just get some of those Manny Ramirez "dread head" dreads and use those! LOL:p

the measurements:

length= 11.25"
OD= 1.25"

Small and elegant!

Disclaimer- "no structural integrity was sacrificed in the making of this saber":mrgreen:

Yes but he also had a red bladed one too, and who says you have to have it the color its susposed to be?`

Why yes it is, the only problem is... I like greenish blue better! So, the choice was personal preference, especially with the expense of the hilt itself involved!

Thanks for the complement! I wasn't trying to be contrary, I have a brand new QV deuce (green), so I wanted the conversion to be a little different! I'm not sure that my dry demeanor made that clear in my last post! LOL;)
