ive seen the copper saber on asap, and i was thinking about building one myself. Has anyone tried this, and if so, did you come across any problems?

If you mean Corbin's "ancient" Saber the Malius that's brass. Sweetest saber I've ever seen made from found parts.[^]

I know for brass (not sure for copper) that wearing a mask and gloves would be good. Brass poisoning is no fun and too much contact with raw brass will turn your hands green.[:0] Otherwise it's pretty striaght forward if expensive to use.

Yup, that one.^^^ It's brass. I don't think he had to worry much about brass poisoning since it's all found parts put together.

I <3 that saber. Makes me drool...[:D]

I don't believe he did much if any. I believe it was all found parts. The New Zealand fire hose was the front then the custom fluting. The only thing for sure he made was the leather.

You could ask corbin. He's really friendly. You can also look at the hero LED and stunt. Randomsabers made: http://www.randomsabers.com/page/malius.htm

If you've followed ASAP then you'd know all the problems that happened with that saber.[xx(]

I made one from copper pipe. It looks nice but there are a few issues that I had. 1st: It's expensive. I got my 1 1/2" pipe from www.onlinemetals.com . It was around $60 but I am able to get 2 sabers out of it.
2nd: It's heavy.
3rd: I did put a clear coat on it but it peels of fairly eaisly so I have to be careful with it. Unless you want a brushed look then the clear might stay on easier.
Here is some pics of it http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=49&whichpage=10
