Just finished my second saber and this one had to be one for the dark side ;). I originally was to make this my saber for my Dark Jedi costume, but noticed that the parts I got when put together resembled the short saber from KOTOR. So I went with that instead of the first design conception for the saber I am to use for trooping.

Only parts I cut for this was the half shrouds for the emitter which were the extra I cut from my brother in-law's saber I'm currently working on. And the insert which I cut from a sink drain piece inspired from the pics of Jay-gon Jinn's sabers.

This saber uses the soundboard from one of the 4 SW-616 kits I "rescued" from the local Radio Shack before they sent them back. At $29.00 a piece, I couldn't resist heh. As well as Erv's dimmer/driver. A 4AAA battery pack and 3watt Red Luxeon. The 1" thin walled blade I cut down to 35" and have double wrap film and 6' of cellophane. I really love how this thing illuminates the computer room with the room light on.

I took it to our garrison's trooping last night for the opening of the Clone Wars movie and loved the "jaw dropping" effect it had on my garrison members as well as people standing in line for tickets when I turned it on to show how bright it was. Finally got pics taken of it, so here they are to share with you all.

love the saber!! beautiful. :)

I had plans to build a saber based on the same design awhile ago. did you use a sink tube for the shrouds? people had told me that the ends and edges would tend to flatten if i used sink tubes so i abandoned the design. any problems? if not that ill have to resurrect the project. you got me jelious.

Actually I used a sink tube for the split shoud on the emitter with absolutely no problem with them flattening out. As you can see from one of the frontal pics with the LED turned on, they kept their shape. Resurrect the project you must :D.
