For the 4th year in a row, Members of the Midwest Garrison were invited to participate in Chicago's-Very-Own, WGN-TV's (Cable Channel 9) 7th annual Back-to-School Kids fair.
Our Members arrived before the crack of dawn since the busy fair attracts many visitors and coincides with the Channel 9 morning news show from 6am - 9am. Parents and children arrive early to see the entertainment, be on TV, learn about safety, receive complimentary back-to-school essentials from local sponsors and receive health exams and immunizations. For many children and families, this is their only opportunity to receive these immunizations.
This year Chicago's Brookfield Zoo brought animals including a cow for the children to see in person. The South Shore Drill Team, the Jesse White Tumblers and every Chicago area professional sports team mascots were crowd-pleasers. Year after year now, the kids have been seeing our costumed Members of the 501st Legion, Star Wars characters as part of the Back-to-School fair entertainment
