I recently joined the Rebel Legion and want to make a belt hanger hilt to use during those events when carrying a bladed saber is just too risky...

can this be reproduced into a belt hanger?

I'm very budget-minded right now, as I'm juggling my jedi as well as my Batman costume..

thank you in advance,
Tim

Yeah, totally. Not all the parts would be available through TCSS but the design is pretty simple.

If that is a saber you already own you could take off the blade too.

Only downside is that this is the MR "Build your own lightsaber" kit.

Do you hvae a rough guess of how much this will cost to make? I'm hoping I can commission someone to do it for me.

I have an event in september that's pretty high-profile, but in a small store. I need to be able to carry a saber without fear of damaging anything and the belt hanger seems like my best bet.

It looks like it would be in the area of $100.00 minimum. You would also need parts powder coated or at least painted. If you decide the paint route it may come off if you don't use enamel based paint and then it may be a pain to get off the saber...if you then decide to powder coat down the road. Plan on another $100-200 for electonics parts, blade and labor for someone to install the electronics etc.

I would have to calculate but I think that this is a fair guestimate.

Why not just set it up so you can take the blade out? it shouldent be that hard sence its a single led now and you can get a better blade.

Yes, that's it!!

I can add the D-ring to the emitter on my own...

How much?

Tim, check out the prices in the store:

You can also convert that saber over to having a removable blade. It's not that hard to do, many members here have done it, and can give you plenty of advice on how to do it.

Oh, and Welcome to TCSS!

Welcome to the forum Tim :D

You should look at all the stuff you can get from the shop. And Tim (TCSS's owner) can machine anything you might need.

I hope you can make your lightsaber Tim.

I've been looking at the shop, but I can't readily drop $60+ on this at the moment...

Welcome to the forums :)

If you want yours to be a belt hanger but dont want to remove the blade, why not remove the pieces (616 construction kit) and slide them over a sink tube or some pvc? It might work ;).

That was one idea I had, but.....

Not sure if I'd need to to carve the track into the pipe or what.... and I'm not sure how to keep the emitter on.

Hot glue guns are amazing and temporary. If you are looking for a cheap and easy solution, it may work.

Ok since you mainly want it to be a belt hanger, I assume that you don't care about sound.
Which would make it cost alot less. but you could still have it light up and have a blade holder (The 1.25 inch blade holder http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/125-Sink-tube-LEDBlade-holder--P269.aspx fits nicely inside the stock hilt tube). I was even planning something similar to sell pm me if you are interested.

correct, I am not in the market for a hilt that makes sounds, just one that sits there and looks pretty.

I'll shoot you a PM right away :D

I gotta say it was expensive the first custom one I got, she's gonna cost me about £100 more for the new upgrade I have planned, but hell it's worth it ^_^

once you have the hilt itself you can easily buy the additional parts every now and again, I was just lucky that Malakai managed to get his hands on a US board for me

maybe try a PVC saber, you can check out:

you could even incorporate one of your extra 616 kit emitters and pommels, it is a cheap solution($5-$10 in parts) and you can even have money left to splurge for a k2 kit for it.
