explosive battery?!

So im working on the electronics when all of a sudden my unhooked battery pack starts to heat up big time!!

At first i thought i touched my soldering iron again... but it was over to the side...i look down an my battery pack is hissing and melting the plastic off of it!!!

Its a 4.8V AAA 1000mAh NIMH Rechargeable battery pack bought right from here.?

is it something id did?

Sounds like the wires got crossed. I expect that somhow the red and black wires were tuching each other for too long.

I had the same problem with my RC Subaru 10AA pack, but on the the wire's were kinda exposed when it happened :rolleyes:
