Hello everyone,
After reading all of the complaints about how useless the "parts" in the sw616 kit are, I decided to try to make some stunt sabers from them. I did not know how they would turn out, but here they are. All have lux III's and accessory LEDs, and all three have PVC replacing the metal center tube. I did make a custom "shroud" for one of them. If anyone wants to know how they were made just ask. I think that these are great for the kids!

p.s.- Sorry, but I don't seem to be able to get the proper exposure with my camera (flash/no flash etc) to show them lit up very well, but they are all quite bright even in a normally lit room.

That's awesome I've got a drawer full of those parts in my garage. I'd love a quick little how-to as to what you did with those.

Great work

That's cool. I did this one with mine, except used PVC to replace the plastic parts with more plastic...

I am glad that these ideas may help someone else! I am only too happy to help.
Give me a week or so and I will take one apart, take some pix and post a mini tutorial.

Mewgen,
you took a much different slant than I did. I like your ideas! i used the 616 electronics in my latest TCSS project. I only used the "left over" pieces with all new electronics for these sabers.
keep up the great ideas!:D

p.s.- is that a maul connector?

I am working on the tutorial by building a new double bladed from-scratch saber, to order, for my 3 yr old son. I decided not to rip the ones I already made apart, but the concept will be the same and I am taking pix at every step and will include analagous pix of the 616 sabers as reference throughout the tutorial. Should be finished in a week or so, all those interested...stay tuned!

I am finished with the new saber and have taken all of the pix for the tutorial, now I need to play with them (the pix that is!) so I can upload them. Hopefully only a few more days!;)

Here we go, I call this one 616 Royal Chrome. It uses a 616 grip section, 'grenade' that has been cut down, and emitter. The activation box is fabricated from PVC and mighty putty also 1.5" chrome sink tube. The pommel is TCSS (#6 I think) and incorporates a covertec wheel. Electronics are a Lux III royal blue driven by a 1000mA buckpuck with quick connects at the battery and LED ends. A TCSS heatsink fit in nicely as well and therefore this is a true quick-change LED saber!

Now to the pictures:

wow, that is really a great saber! you can almost forgive MR for making the clunky plastic pieces. It actually remind me of the Apprentice's Jedi saber in force unleashed (the action figure's, not SC4). I usually don't go for activation boxes, but that one is killer. Again, nice work!

Thanks, Titoshi. The box construction mimics the activation cluster on Exar Kun's single handed double-bladed saber that I plan on building. I needed to practice making the arrangement so it won't blow when I make the Kun saber!:p

I really like this saber. It reminds me of a saber I saw once online that I really liked. The builder called it a "plate saber", named because he had a Star Wars decorated plate, and the painter messed up the lightsaber held in Luke's hand- on the bottom were vertical grips like on the Graflex/Heilland style sabers, and on the top was a round dish emitter, like the Obi-Wan and Luke ROTJ sabers. So his hilt was very similar to yours. I'm very surprised that the 616 can be used to make such a nice looking hilt, good job!

G-man,

Thanks! :p I was also surprised. It looks even better in person. I built it to sell on eBay, but when I finished, I could not bear to part with it!
