I just finished a new saber. Thanks to eastern57 and the others for the electronics help. The hilt is made from a real Graflite flash, the pomell is part of the MR-616 set and can use any one of the three pomells that came with it. It also houses the 616 soundcard, the middle band was made from the 616kit as well, although it took a lot of sanding to get that puppy to fit. The LED is a Red LUX III with a 10 degree lens with a TCSS speaker. It also has a 34" blade with a single wrap of Corbins film and 4 feet of special wrap and includes a mirrored tip inside. It's pretty cool..I like how the light shines through the windows and the sound comes out there as well as the bottom of the hilt.

He'hey, Looks good, man! I too, like the little windows for light.

I would never have thought of putting a covertech where you did - but it makes a lot of sense.

Did you keep the red button operable? And did you get the recharge port to work?

The blade power is controlled by the switch on the hilt band. It will be very easy to make that red button work as a momentary but right now it's temporarily glued in place. I need a driver such as Corbin's or Erv's or even Kalel's card but I'll probably keep it the way it is. I may even eBay this one..we'll see. The recharge port is still in the pomell but I disconnected the wiring when I was troubleshooting the electronics.

Looks great Chris. ;)
What ended up as the culprit in the problems you had with the wiring?

The culprit to the wiring was...ummm..uhhh..Well not 100 percent positive but it may have to do with the rechargable batteries that I was using. I think both the draw from the LUX as well as from the soundcard were eating up the juice too quickly. I changed them out for regular 1.5V AAA and it works like a champ.

As far as the pic of the Graflite hilt itself do a search for Graflite flashes. I think it's a 3 cell Graflite flash model 2773. I see them on eBay from time to time.

Is the graflite 1.25 inch or 1.5 inch?

Just in case anyone is interested I think I may throw this on eBay tonight.

UPDATE: Well hate to do it but it's on eBay.

Think of it as the enabling element that will allow (and fund) you to continue making awesome lightsabers :)
