Okay, I just pryed off one of the Grips from an MR '05 Vader, ESB. There were little ... well you can take a look for yourself.

Do they have any function besides keeping the Grips there? Or can I try to yank them out and throw some sort of grip material over that area? Any suggestions? Anything, even criticism is welcome.

lol, I love seeing the site in the background...

I don't think those do anything other than hold them on. They're probably a pain to remove but I see no reason you can't cover them up with new grips.

Well, it's the fact that I didn't like the grips that came with the Vader, so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I did not pry to hard since I'm trying to keep the hilt looking original but they are just the points where the grip goes through the hilt, if you peek inside you should be able to see the bottom side of the grip that anchored to the hilt. I'm not to sure you would want to pull those out since that helps support the batt pack but xwing is right just slap some grips on you like and your good to go.
