I haven't posted much on this board, but I thought I'd post pics of my Tusken Raider costume. I finished it last week and am now waiting for my 501st Application to clear.

Just think of me as a Tusken who was snatched from his homeworld and dropped off on Endor. ;)

NICE!

That costume rocks. You really don't see enough sand people... I guess Anakin's rampage put the fear of plasma in them.

Thanks you guys! I really appreciate the comments.

Yeah, BhujangiJedi, we Tuskens are still trying to recover from that horrible massacre. :(

May I ask how much you paid for your costume? I am thinking of a tusken raider and wanted to know what a good price for a great costume would be.

Great job man. Where did you get the ghaffi (sp?) stick?

Hmm... that's hard to say. I scratch built most of it, but the cost of materials was probably roughly around $220 to $250 give or take, plus my time.

Now that cost is considerably less than some of the other costumes you can put together, but for the Tusken Raiders it's harder to just find pre-made stuff to buy. Your real investment is going to be your time and creativity.

I hope that helps answer your question.

Thanks man!

I made the gaffi stick using PVC pipe, a closet rod, 1/8" Masonite, two wooden bowls glued together then carved with a Dremel tool, a funnel, and kneaded epoxy.

I then spray painted silver and brown, and dry-brushed silver and black over the whole thing to give it a "weathered" look.

You know, I got to thinking about how much I actually spent on my costume all said and done, and I forgot to take into account construction materials such as epoxy, hot glue, foam padding, velcro, etc. That's probably another $30 right there so we're looking at an approximate total of $250 to $280 roughly.

Thanks Morpheus! Still waiting to hear back. It's been 2 weeks so I'm getting a little antsy. :)

How about you? Have you submitted your Scout yet?

I actually submitted my package about two months ago sans pictures. (my local squad leader told me to do it this way.) I finally recieved my bucket on wed. Took my pictures yesterday, sent them in this morning and BAM I was approved. I am just waiting on the official email with my TB#.....alot depends on your GML also...

Yeah, I'm going to have to contact my GML this weekend and at least see if I can get at status. He doesn't seem very "on-the-ball" with his communication.

Congrats to you though! Your armor is great!

Tweaked some stuff on my bucket and respirator. Added a little more weathering to the eyes, tusks, and teeth and just added a couple finishing touches to the respirator. After all, a costume is never REALLY complete, is it?

I touched bases with my GML over the weekend and he said my 501st application should be official in the next couple of days. Yay! :D

Thanks guys!

I feel your pain GusKenobi. We have a few events now and then where I'm at, but the closest Garrison to my area is on the other side of the state, so there aren't a lot of trooping events that I can get to.

There are always things you can add to your costume aren't there jedi/storm? No matter how finished you think you are, there's always SOMETHING you want to tweak. It's a filthy habit!

BTW, I'm now officially 501st as of last night! My designation is DZ 7204. Now I can hang out with the big kids, hehe. :)
