View Full Version : Super stuck on how to wire CF V3

Hey guys, how do you wire the Aux button and on/off button to a CF? I'm super stuck

Is there a polarity for the gauraded switch and would there be for a tactile switch?

Cheers!

Just follow the diagrams in the manual.

A thing I've been doing instead of taking the switch back to the batteries is to use the ground pad that's between the aux and main switch pads. It simplifies the recharge port situation if you have one.

One side of the switch goes to the pad on the board that designated in the diagram. The other side of the switch goes to either the pad designated at GND or can be wired directly back to the battery negative lead. I found that a little confusing the first time I saw it too. Both switches can use the same GND pad.

Hope that helps.

Got it sorted now, cheers guys! :D

Gots me self another problem now, speaker is fuzzed up, its all distorted (screwdriver got stuck to it ) Any way of sorting that one out?

Whilst I'm on this subject, space is looking pretty tight ATM, would a 4AAA 1000mAh give a decent run time? If not I'll have to figure it out :?

Depends on your settings. If you are overdriving a LuxIII or using a red/red-oragnge/amber you will get maybe 30 minutes. Make sure to wire that kill switch, too. My CF drains a 900 mah batt pack almost overnight without a killswitch. And that's with very little actual play time. Then again I ran my blue at 1500 ma, man that looks good. ha ha.

My saber uses a red LuxIII on a MR Vader board and at best it'll only run for about 45 minutes :(. I'm thinking about replacing the 4xAAA pack with a 4xAA one, but then I wont be able to remove the hilt extension. Decisions decisions...

check the volume - the tiny potentiometer on the board.

18650s + a v3 on top of it won't fit in a ribbed section. only the regular hilt/extension sections.

Ah yes good point  Screw it, 4AAA pack it is, until i get the hang of the Li-Ion idea and the money

Malik,
Does that fit in a ribbed MHS Section?

Malik,
Does that fit in a ribbed MHS Section?

Yes it should it is the same size as the 4.8v 2600mah pack in the shop. And those fit inside ribbed sections. This is the same size as those. Took forever to find, but I found them... I finaly found them.:mrgreen:

um, I don't know... Malaki, you have a guarded switch, don't you? How much space is there from the edge of that double female section? It's a 4", right? You might not have enough space to fit your CF... they work best when positioned in as far back as possible. I'm pretty sure you won't have room "aft" of the switch, and even if it's "fore" of the switch, you wouldn't be able to get to the card from the rear.

If you load the 4AAA from the front, and turned the CF so the sd card faces forward, that might work, but would still limit access to it - unless you have some long hemostats.

The 4AA would fit, but certainly not with the CF and guarded switch.

Sorry to keep bashing such a sweet saber, but you might want to reconsider your design to accomodate the electronics... I know I've had to a "few" times....

Its not really bashing, its guidance to me, and its fact. I'm going to go for Li-Ion, cause at the end of the day it isnt going to work the way I would like it to, so if any you guys got any sources for Li-Ion packs, post as many as possible LOL (Yes I'm that desperate  )

This should help. :D;-)

two 18650 are (understandably) 13cm long. might still be squeezed for space ...BUT... they fit almost perfectly in the choke point, with three 22 guage wires (2 for the LED, 1 for battery), so you might be able to start there.

Cheers guys! Got one here to be checked:

Is it to big for the MHS, are they not the same size as AA batteries?

eastern57

no, it won't fit. 18650 is the dimensions: 18mm x 65mm

Novastar mentioned these. He said they worked pretty good. but eastern 57 is right though they give off the demensions, cool never knew that. Learned another thing.:D

18650s are bigger than AA 14500 are AA sized and are the ones that tim uses.

I would talk to tim about getting a custom pack made.

I like the idea of the long Li-Ion pack just in the thin neck, I found some rechargeable CR123 battery's:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RECHARGEABLE-CR123-Lithium-Battery-3-7V-1000mAh-x-4_W0QQitemZ160241536320QQihZ006QQcategoryZ40975QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Could i make a pack outta those? I know they are tiny

I made battery packs that so far I'm VERY pleased with for my current sabers. They are made of 7x NiMH AAA's and each of them is 1.2v and 1000mAh. For a total of 8.4v rating, that battery pack is powerful enough to run my luxeon V LED's, yet gives me around an hour of runtime with the Luxeon V's and even longer with K2's or luxeon III's.

Now here's the best part... I used super glue to mount them into a barrel roll and all 7 of them in this way fit INSIDE A STANDARD MHS TUBE!!! Talk about saving battery space!!!! It's been the perfect setup for me.

here's some pictures of how I made the battery packs.

That a great idea. But one thing, are you charging those batteries on a recharge port? But great work anyways. And where did you get thouse batteries at?

SpectreT65

based on the fact that there are wires going from the other 9V connector into the end cap, yes, there's a recharge port. Second, those appear to be common Duracell brand Nickel - Metal Hydride rechargeable AAA batteries, commonly available nearly everywhere batteries are sold. Local Wal-Mart or Target, for example.

Thanks I'll check those places for those type of batteries.
