on my never ending search for cool buttons and switches to be used..

I was looking for some MINI/MICRO latching push buttons.. and found these;

http://www.rjselectronics.com/PDF/PB613x.pdf

(from web site)

"Large Range of DPDT switches LED illuminated with latching and momentary action options. This is one of our most popular ranges. The small footprint switches are ideal for Audio/Video applications due to their "quiet" operation. The swithes are available with many cap shapes and sizes for flexibility and many LED colors - including pink and purple!!!"

seem to have a small enough foot print:

these cant be latching... can they??

also I see a bunch of LED (accent) modules.. can these be used for our hobby too?

http://www.rjselectronics.com/PDF/Led%20Modules.pdf

however all that electronics stuff doesnt mean much unfortunately..but I thought it says can be wired to be latching?

but I need the feedback form you guys..since I have no clue.

(too bad they are in the UK it looks like)

Thanks

There are some neat switches in there but damned if I know what they mean by Push to Lock, that could work right there.

The product documentation always drives me mad as nobody can seem to ever quite agree how to describe things :)

push to lock is the same as latching.

they are sending me two free samples of my choice. (airmail)

if they work/look nice.. I guess we can get a bunch and divide them up if there is an interest. :)

I'd be willing to pitch in a bit.
Take some good pics of the ones you get with something to compare againsts for size. Please

How much was it for 100? I'd be happy to buy a few as well.

Is there a general interest in one style over another?

I'll grab one that the MAJORITY of people are interested in..

this was the reply to me:
"tell me which ones you want (cap shape, LED color etc)"

how we make our choice:

BUTTON STYLE:

OTHER OPTIONS:

CIRCUIT INFO:

Do many or are the majority of people looking for an ILLUMINATED one?

"MY" main concern is a NICE, clean, LOW PROFILEW/FOOTPRINT style button that is LATCHING for us to keep up with smooth & clean lines of our hilts.

illuminated is NOT a concern, but definately NOT against it.

Im sure the CAP'd style ones are TALLER:
.. but they add a 'finished look sorta:

http://dmstudios.net/misc/latching_specs/caps.jpg

as far as symbols.. I dont mind the POWER symbol, arrows or triangles..or circle/dot

are the 'caps' removable do you think? or if its a capped style..its always a capped button it seems?

the SMALLEST foot print is around:http://dmstudios.net/misc/latching_specs/smallest.jpg

seems to be about 6mm above (button height) hilt line and 6.5mm below is needed at minimum.

LARGEST in this lst is:
http://dmstudios.net/misc/latching_specs/biggest.jpg

seems to be about total 19.8, 9.4 above & 9.4 above ((button height)

others are around this or close at 18.+

something chrome or black or small, flush mounted are my focus..

Just throwing my 2 cents in, but I think button style 07 may look nice on a Sith type saber.

Not to be a turd in the pool - but we're approaching the grey area. I'll direct your attention to the second "S" in "TCSS"... as in "Tim's store". xl97, I know for sure that you mean well, but just to be on the safe side, you might want to run this by Tim before you proceed.

Agreed Eastern,

The last thing we need to do is tick off the guy who runs the place. Perhaps if Tim can negotiate a good price he might be able to resell these. Just a thought.

what the heck happend to my response here? LOL..

maybe it was too long? LOL

anywasy to re-cap what I said.. I said it was only two actual buttons were are getting for free to test.. if we like something.. I 'too' said Tim can get as many or whatever type he wants.. if thinks/knows we are interested.. it may be better for Tim to get a bulk order than us? however if we dont like them.. or they stink.. how will anyone know?

That is why I posted this stuff since they seem to be SMALl & LATCHING.. (good thing for our hobby).. and they said they would give me some freebies as demos..

if we can pick two out.. I'll get them and we can check 'em out.. :)

Picking the freebies then, I like the 2f Switch and symbol 01 (power) with red led (I believe that one is iluminated.
