Its pretty cool ive never seen a lux saber before and didnt quite know what to expect sure ive seen youtube but not in person. Got a Darth Vader hilt and ordered a cyan L.E.D "luck of the Bin" though recieved a lime green ouch. Greens cool and all and im guessing the "brighter" of the cyan led's my reasoning being i figure blue is dimmer than green so cyan being something of a middle ground of the two so if you get more green than blue it would be brighter. But dont let that undertone the fact that i was really expecting more of a cyan led crappy bin or not. This is Green trust me. ill post pics soon. Just a thought if they go through all the trouble to make something like this why dont they have some sort of "quality control" afterwards or before-hand to prevent things like this from happening? Like a prelight-test on some simple circuit to power it up before assembly. What do you guys think (atleast about what ive said so far pics to come once i figure out how to post them)?

yeah, those rogue cyans have been floating around, irritating everyone. Shame that they still sold it as cyan. I think Tim was selling those high bin cyans as greens - or maybe not even selling them at all. regardless, that's poor salesmanship on ultrasaber part.

Anyway, congratulations on your first LUXEON LED lightsaber... it's all downhill from here.

Ultra orders his LEDs in bulk so he can get the bin he wants... I'm surprised you'd call it green.

Kelly Green on its way to teal was what my Luke ANH wound up as when I had mine converted by Ultra, so I'm not surprised at all. It photographs a lot more blue than green, so far, mind you; I've even matched the color exactly to the picture on his site for it. I'm still tinkering with my camera to try and weed out the bias, because it's a lot more green in person.

Cant order the bin you want when the manufacturer doesnt have them.

I lucked out and got a great cyan from TCSS on my first order, its a luxV and it goes in every hilt as the test led, but it lives in my favorite hilt, my anceint saber...Threnody...when you want cyan and don't get it I can imagine how much that would suck,to me it is by far the best looking color when you get to see it in person. When you post pics be warned, my cyan looks perfect in RL, but the pics look blue...it saturates my camera badly creating an image that really doesn't do it justice.

needless to say i'm a little disappointed im calling this my revoked work permit contruction kit nothings happening over here. the only reason i choose this particular one over the construction kit was solely for the LED now im stuck with green.

I dont think there will be much he can do..

I dont think ther is a way to know UNLESS you open it up first and try it out..

and with binning... who knows. Ive heard that the ONLY way you can even ask/get a specific bin number is to oder in BULK only.. and even then.. you may never know.. as the led supplier may not even care or go by bin #'s..

and thats to even say there are availabel anywhere. :)

I feel your pain... but if you look around.. Im sure you can get a decent BLUE or CYAN LED to swap it with.. and LED's are usually only a few bucks..

You are right its not like i have buyers remorse or anything and i could just put in an led but not anytime soon ive been only cruising these boards for about 2weeks and thats all ive come to know of the inner workings of a saber.

Im a complete noob myself, so dont worry.. and changing an LED (in most cases) is as easy as cutting/soldering two wires, so you dont have to worry. :)

But I am un-familiar with Ultra hilts and how they are put together.. maybe they are NOT made to be taken apart.. or in a certain way.. or maybe he works in a propietary manner were this is NOT an easy task..

but 'normally' it is a VERY easy task..the easiest.. getting sound/driver, configuration...etc.. thats where I get confused.. :)

look around and see if you can find a blue, royal blue or cyan of a lowest bin# you can find and work from there.

many people use quick connects, so they can change their LEDS very easy and 'fast'...

Man that is green! I hope you can find a good cyan to replace the other one.

But on the bright side, at least you have a Luxeon saber now. They're the best kind of saber you could go for.

Yea im thinking of grabbing just a blue and seeing where that takes me. But now a new round of questions insues, such as: "Led wise would it be easier to just swap the led or have another led heatsink optics assembly ready to go? But id still need to take it apart. Ill wait the 90 day warranty expiration period for that, someone mentioned on here ultra has a way to tell if its been opened. You right about the proprietary conversion methods with his conversion ill have to post a thread maybe if no one can chime in on this now. Would like to swap in 3 months or atleast have a "kit" ready to swap.

Yea its pretty green, like turn signal green. My avatar was done on my phone atleast the pics on that the elusive blue shows up but not to a >1.3 mega pixel camera. The green ones were on a 7meg set to 5 camera.

Same here bro, I am now building my first MHS saber and I ordered a cyan from Lumileds and yep...green. Not too big a deal, as my next saber will be from a character of the Dark Horse comics star wars series Dark Times and his blade was more the pale green this led seems to be. But frustrating as I fell head over heels for the cyan color which I see many people sport in their pics.

But great job on acquiring your first LED saber!

Hi there and welcome to the Luxeon revolution.

If you're looking for a bin 1 cyan, I have one that I'll swap out with you. The bin 1 LEDs are the light blue color. I bought a bunch some time ago and still have a couple I never used. Is that a 3 watt or a 5 watt?
