Here's a little blade comparison just for you guys. All sabers have the Joe Jedi internals and RGB Led.

Here are the blades:
stock Joe Jedi blade
UltraFX blade
Mid-grade Ultra blade
Corbin battle blade (should be the same for heavy Ultra blade besides film)

I agree but I would like to see a comparison between TCSS battle and Ultra Stunt blades. I started this for those who have no clue where to begin or what to look for with the blades as I did in the beginning.

aaaaaaarrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! this computer wont show the pictures!!!!

any way i also need a suggestion because this is what i came to this forum for!

which is better for dueling purposes?

the Ultra-Blade from Ultra sabers? or the TCSS blades?

i have already seen other pictures for the brightness differnce and from what i can see Corbin Blades WIN!

so what would you guys suggest?

The TCSS blade would be nicer for dueling. You get blemishes if you go too hard but on the Ultrafilm you can wrinkle it to the point you need to rewrap the whole blade.

Also, most would not put Corbin film alone anywhere near the top on brightness. Corbin+PolyP/Acetate/whatever yes, but corbin alone... nope.

Aluke's (Lord Maul here) posts are good pictures.

The Ultra/Gelukhan style blade/diffuser for even lighting is no camera trick. It really does distribute the light better.

No one needs to trust me on that, although... for those that have seen my Balance of Power performances... well... people know that I mean business when I speak about how much usage the sabers have had, and what experiments I've made.

The Ultra/Gelukhan style diffuser can easily be made on your own, although to append/augment what Xwing said... the film does NOT have to be volatile and prone to "twisting loose" if you secure it properly.

I have several blades that I've made myself--which are essentially identical to what you'd buy via Ultra--and the film has NEVER twisted, come loose or freaked out in any way. People might ask... ok, well do you duel with it? YES. I am not even joking when I say that these blades (2 in particular) have experience (get ready)... 24,000+ hits. That might sound ridiculous to some, but it's actually a "lowball" number. I did the math regarding some choreography myself and an associate were doing over the course of 6 months at about 1 meet per week, for about 2 or so hours. The battle was about 250 moves, and obviously we didn't just do "one run through" and then pack it up and go home. Oh no nonononono... more like 4x or more.

So...

1000 hits
4 meets per month (sometimes 5 or 6, depending)
6 months
-----------
24,000 hits total

That is not even counting some other usage of those sabers for a COMPLETELY separate dueling/saber thingy issue.

So... what else happens to the blades over the course of 24,000+ hits is... they become "SANDED" ALL BY THEMSELVES. :) This further helps to distribute the light, and although they no longer appear "shiny & purty"... welcome to the life of the polycarbonate tube that finds itself attached to a hilt in the hands of Novastar.

Q: What type? Thin or thick-walled?
A: Thin-walled blades, diffuser and mirror tip were prepared by myself.

Q: Have the blades ever broken?
A: No. Not these ones.

Q: Have the tips ever flown off?
A: No. Not on these ones. I do some unique things to keep the tips on the blades I use though.

Q: Have the blades ever cracked?
A: No. Not these ones.

Q: Do they still look "shiny" when the LED is off?
A: No.

Q: Does the light look "weird" because of all the scuffs on the blade from dueling?
A: No. I think it looks better, more even, and... you can't see the "inner wall" of the tube either.

Q: Where did the polycarb come from?
A: Tim's shop, here... TCSS! I trust the quality that Tim picks for his stuff.

Q: Is the light better from Poly-tube X to Poly-tube Y?
A: Hard to say. I doubt it though... unless you start comparing thick-walled to thin, or different materials. If the OD/ID is the same... it's... pretty much the same! For the mostpart.

I hope some of this helps, although I don't mean to de-rail. Although, I think all of this is relevant in terms of saying "blade comparisons". I think a test of 20,000+ hits is plenty to tell the tale of certain blades and such. :)
