After seeing the strange variance in K2 Red/Amber max. cont. currents being listed originally at "700ma"... but then magically changing to "1500ma" (like their green/blue counterparts)...

...I've found that it *IS* indeed errata!

Hello Matthew,

I looked into the information we have on the site and it appears that the max current rating for the red, red/orange and amber LEDs had inadvertently got changed at some point. The max current rating for these LEDs should be 700mA. Not 1500mA. I have already arranged to have this corrected on the site. Thank you for pointing this out.

For definitive information, always refer to the technical documentation from the manufacturer. You can download the document for the K2 LEDs from here:

So... good to know. Don't push your luck with the K2 Red/Amber series and go to 1500ma! Might kill 'em. :)

thanks novastar I just ordered some red k2's, I was going to run 2 700's on each, saves me from buying 2 more, I think i'll just run a 1000 on each and be fine.

I would still run them at 1500 just to see if they would take it :P
