Luke ANH sound help...

I bought a Luke ANH FX and the clash sound happens about a second after the blade is hit (which is a really noticeable unflattering delay).I've noticed that many others have reviewed this sabers clash as excellent in terms of timing and am wondering if there is anything I can do to the saber to fix it. I would be happy to open it up if it would help (and I was thinking of converting it anyway - but only if I can get the clash sound to seem at all realistic). Does anyone have any advice?
