I can sympathise as I just had my left eye lasered today :(. The first session of treatment (for diabetic retinopathy, Google it  ) was a doddle, the 15th onwards really suck. If it's any consolation, the blurriness and discomfort pass pretty quickly.

You'll be back to the lathe in no time :). Best of luck sir!

Edit: Does this mean we're paying the price for his lack of vision?... Tenuous I know, but at least it's SW related .

Get well quick and be careful. You don't want to get an infection in your eye.

ouch lasers in the eye arent fun.

I dont really know, but I can imagine. Surgery in general isnt fun. Unless you are performing surgery on a clown... while dressed as a clown. Now thats funny.

oh umm, get well soon.

I would like to bring up the Family Guy episode where Luke is preforming Lasik Surgery on some woman and Obi-Wan tells him to use the force... he stabbed her through the eye socket with his light saber.

Tim, I hope your doctor had a better bed side manor, get well soon :)

It would have been easier had he had normal Lasiks.. With that, they cut around the outside of your lens and make a flap, after surgery they put it back down over your eyeball and you heal up fairly quickly. He had to have a PRK, which is where they basically scrub your cornea down before the surgery, so its pretty darn painful while your cornea (lens) regenerates.

He is definatly starting to feel better.. and he's very anxious to get back to work!
Thank you for all the well wishes, he appreciates them very much :) He'll be back soon!

I'll add my get well wishes too.

The eyes are a very delicate part of the body and there's no 'do overs' with them. I can't count the number of times I have been to the emergency room for foreign object in the eye reports (comes with the territory of working in a steel shop for 23 years). The worst I ever had was a silver of steel straight into the center of the eye. Because it fell between the eyelids, I didn't know it was there for a few days. Eventually had to go to the doctor, but by then the damage was done. They couldn't pull it out and it had actually rusted itself in the eye. The had to resort to a dremel tool like thing to actually grind down the cornea to remove as much of the sliver as possible. Quite a trippy feeling watching your eye deform under the sanding wheel. I still have problems with that eye when in bright lights because of it.

I take it you never heard of the 660 shuffle.

660 volts from a carnival bumpercar ride will deffinatly put you in some pain.

Never again will I be cought on a bumpercar ride ever again.

Get well soon Tim. Don't worry about anything on this side, we'll still be here when you get back. The recovery is always the worst part. Who knows, maybe by some freak accident were the laser shaped your eyes just the right way and somehow your eyes absorbed the radiation you'll end up with x-ray vision or something. One can hope right.:-D

Thanks guys!!

Today I can finally focus pretty good on my monitor. It can blur in and out a tad sometimes but every day seems to be getting better so I should be back to normal by the end of the week. Most people don't need to get the PRK version of lasiks and can see fine the following day but I had some issues that made it so it would be less risky to do the PRK which as I have found out takes about a week before I can see decent. Sorry for any orders that have gotten delayed by this and I will get them all out ASAP.

Im glad to hear things are going good Tim! The worst thing about surgery is the recovery, I was on that road for 10 month's. Hope all goes well, and for us waiting, it's well worth it once we see the finished results!

My wife done the same thing in both eyes and when the medication effect is gone the pain was unbearable. Please Tim take a good rest because you need to form a scar in your eye after the surgery.....
I told my wife that I could do the same thing and chrage her nothing but She didn't let me use my lightsaber.
