I'd say that the normal blue looks better, it seems to have a whiter core where as the royal blue is entirely blue. Bear in mind though that could be an effect caused by the camera. Maybe you could ask XWing to take a photo of the two blades side-by-side for a direct comparison?

I have seen both blues together and I like the Royal more.

I like them both but it depends on what your looking for most lookalike to the movies I think is royal but the earlier movies blue. and some cyan

One of those wasn't mine so I can't do a side-by-side, it was sent to it's owner.

To me it comes down to saturation. I personally like Royal Blue because it's a rich color, same as I prefer Red vs Red-Orange. Otherwise normal Blue is more accurate and brighter, but Roayal Blue isn't dim... it's just another quality.

I side with the royal blue. It's just such a nice color. Regular blue ends up looking a bit anemic to me.

regular blue, after seeing the bin 4-5 blue in my brothes graflex I was sold.

Royal, my one made jaws drop at CE last year.

Blue is nice, but Royal all the way with Tims Battle blade. Great coring effect.

I haven't seen a 'blue' Cyan in the flesh, as the one I got off Erv was more spearmint green. Works well for the saber, but can't judge as a blue.

Can't realy say because I have yet to see a royal blue in person, but I'm converting my ESB vader to RB and I have a blue and I'm not too impressed with the blue.Royal blue is realy cool looking from what I've seen.

I personaly think that Royal blue is better just because its more movie accurate so it looks more real and pretty:rolleyes: Blue is just from what I'v seen greenish-cyan to me.

Royal Blue is definitely the more satisfying color. I murdered my Lux V Royal Blue through Arrogance and Ignorance (I thought it just might survive without a resistor - my math was off), replaced it with a regular Blue (Lux III, to be fair) on a 1000mA buckpuck, and am not thrilled with it. Both are close to film accurate, just different parts and different films.

Regular Blue looks washed out; OT Luke, especially on Hoth. Royal Blue is saturated, a little deeper. Prequel Trilogy Blue, is what Royal looks like.

But, to the point, Royal Blue FTW!

to be fair on the pic I posted, they are using different styles of blades.

the royal blue is using a 28 inch Jay Gonn Dual Core blade (corbin film and polyp). the blue blade is using a 34 inch blade with 6 feet of poly p and a sanded outer blade

to my eye, the royal blue is a much deeper and prettier color, but the blue has a certain "icy" quality to it that I love. I like them both, but prefer royal.

I originally wasn't going to go blue, but after putting this bin 6 Royal Blue in my saber, I was sold. The regular blue is too washed out where the deeper saturated blue forms a more distinct and in my opinion more striking blade.
Also royal blue is much closer to the ROTS blue of Obi-wan and Anakin and looks awesome when dueling against a red saber.

Not sure if Erv's one is blue or Royal in his Obi, but it does look different to mine, so here's a possible comparison.

Erv, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but it does look more pale than mine.
