A guy at work has several of these wired up in his car for the effects. He says they are super bright and do not get hot. What do you guys think?

You'll have to be specific. That site has lots of stuff and on a cursory look there's nothing new there to me... cold cathodes, superflux, strips... all old stuff that doesn't really work for what we're doing.

1W...

DC Voltage: Min 2.79V, Typ 3.55V, Max 3.99V

DC Current: Typ 350mA
think luxeon I.

Intensity Luminous (Iv): K ~ 10.7 LM

at 10 lumens, I'd say look for better products. This is just a cheap knockoff.

That's a Prolight, the same makers as the 1watt RGB leds in the Joe Jedi (radio shack) saber. It's not a bad LED for what it is but it doesn't really compare to what's available through this site or the cool ones X is working with. Also the price is a little high there, you should be able to knock off a buck or two per LED with a little hunting on ebay.
