Sorry didn't want to clog up the other thread.
I work on the Lightining Detection And Ranging (LDAR for short) and on the 50 MHz Doppler Wind Radar Profiler at Kennedy Space Center. The LDAR does what it sounds like detects lightining all over the state of Florida. And the Profiler measures high alttitude wind speed and direction. I get to be at work 8 hours ahead of any launch (Shuttle or Rocket) and about 7 to 8 miles from the Shuttle pads near the Shuttle Landing Facility. thanks for listening, any other questions?
