View Full Version : Another weekend another MHS

This weekend I built and completed another 2 MHS sabers.
This one is my least favorite saber to date (theres no neck--where's the neck?) :
It's a Ribbed section (4") connected to a 7" plain style 1 hilt. I put a 6AA sled in it and a 1000mA puck. I was going to put one of Tim's new switches on it, but I didn't want to waste one on this. As you can see it's got a style 1 blade holder and a style 5 pommel. It's almost 14" long. I wanted to build a saber that didn't have a thin neck-- but I guess it's just not a saber to me... without a thin neck.

The fake switch just below the ribbed section is from a 3 cell Graflex-- I bought a box of about 6 of them in various conditions from a guy at a swap meet-- he had no clue what they were. Smiley
Anyways here are some pictures:

This next one started life as a simple saber for my 17 month old:

I never liked the way it came out-- too plain. While I was taking apart the switch from the 3 cell flash I took the "emitter" off the flash and stuck it on this saber. I'm really happy with how it looks now.

and just to prove that it's not for me:

It's a 26" FX blade (cut down and mirror installed on tip), 4AAA sled and a LUX III.

As always, your candid comments are appreciated, and welcomed. I'm not married to these "final incarnations".
Thanks for your time.
Joe

That one with the graflex switch is just screaming for a Chrome sinkpipe emitter shroud.

Nice sabers as always JP. I love it how the youngling is holding the saber by the blade

Side note: Your custom title should be "The Weekend Warrior"

Yes,

My youngling does the same thing. (It take a great mastery of Dark Force Engergy Dissipation techniqhes to hold a saber by its enrgy blade.) When He learns control, he'll be a true Sith Lord.

The long hilt needs something-------- Excuse my ignorance but what is a
"Chrome sinkpipe emitter shroud."
I'm still learning. I'm going to do something with this saber, I was thinking about taking my Dremel to a sink tube and seeing what happens.

Thanks for your kind words.

The neat thing about the #1 blade holder is that 1 1/4" sink tube fits over the small part, and 1 1/2" tube fits over the larger part, giving you the possibility of doing a neat layered shroud. That's what I did for my brass Enigma saber.

Joe, is it possible to make those switches functional? I've seen those flash guns on Ebay, and wondered if they could be made to work with the red button as the power button.

A 22 guage chrome Sink tailpiece will fit nicely over MHS sections. If your mhs pieces have been powder coated you will probably have to sand the inside of the sink tube. But you can use a Dremmel to cut out a really nice design. Just a thought. Its that same sink tube Tim sells in the store. The 1.5" that is.

All it would take is to either mount the switch in the hole (you'd have to drill the hole) the red button could also be used. I just stuck it on there with glue to get an idea of what it'd look like.

I'll check it out-- thanks for the heads up.

Just thought I would chime in here, I have some MHS parts powder coated, and I needed to shim up my clamp so it wouldn't be so loose. Anyway I don't know if it's unique to just my saber, but I can slide an unmodified sink tube on to my hilt no problem.

Besides being about 14 inches long, I'd say it's not a bad lookin saber. I like it.
I'm still comprehending how you got all the guts into that tiny saber. I have a good idea how you dit it and can see how it all fits but just looking at it, it's like how in the world did you do that?
Train him well and he shall rule the galaxy with an iron binky... I mean fist.

I still need to make one for my little brother.

The switch and the resister are in the pommel so the only thing in the hilt is the the sled.

It was a trick to figure out-- there is no way you could go with a 3" double female with a 4AAA sled. I tried everything.

Thanks-- the boy will become a Jedi... I promise. :)

I want to get my nephew an fx but a custom would be so much cooler. Great job again jp! He will be a Sith! Only a sith can hold a saber by its energy blade. Only a sith deals in absolutes. Muahaha!

I'm trying to work on a flyer in PS to pass around the neighborhood. I'll be able to make a little cash and advertise TCSS at the same time! :)
