Hey,
I'm trying to machine a replica of Luke ROTJ lightsaber. I found some really cool plans by some guy named Francisco Garcia. Plus I've been using pics of the MR replica. Most unofficial replicas I've seen use a pale gold colour for the peice just under the emitter, but MR uses copper.

(The MR pic is the botom one)

I watched the DVD and couldn't get a clear look.

Does anybody have some insight?

Gold? Nah, I always thought it was copper. I think the gold you're seeing is a camera flash issue or something.
Every picture, toy, or replica I've ever seen of it says it's copper.

yeah, i too have seen nothing but copper. i think that a hardware version of this saber is going to be my next project. i don't think it has been done yet, at least not a close replica.

i am a nerd, if you don't like it, i will cut you with my lightsaber

Hardware means by found or fabricated parts. Taking it to machinist doesn't count as being a "hardware" saber.

Ah. Well, the original prop was supposedly machined, so it'll be pretty hard to do it otherwise.

yes, i want to fabricate my own parts. i am pretty sure i can do it, it will take time, but i am pretty confident. it will be a while though, i am low on the dough [B)]

This is probably the lightsaber that Mark Hamill might use in ROTJ. This saber hilt appears in few shots of the movie like the seconds of Luke using the Force pull to get his lightsaber from mid-air that was shot by R2. The second one is when Palpatine confiscated Luke's saber in Death Star II and when Luke uses the Force to get back his saber from the Palpatine's throne.

I didn't made it by machine or own it. I only saw the pictures from eBay.

There are Garden Hose repair pieces that look almost exactly like the neck of the ROTJ saber.....paint one copper and you'd lilkely have a close enough match to fool Aunt Beru. [:o)]

Reality often interferes with what would otherwise be an idyllic delusion.

besides the mk3 grenade, where else can you find an alternative part??? also, i saw the repair hose you were talking about, will that be big enough??

Hey,
I thought I'd post a pic of my progress so far. I'm hoping it's the first ROTJ replica with working LED indicator lights... but someone probably beat me to it. I'll be finished in a couple weeks. As soon as I can get the pommel milled.

that is just freakin' awsome. I admire how you guys can take a bar of metal and turn it in to something so cool. Is it going to be set up for an led?

Dang X-wing...
I heard a loud noise when I saw that link, only later to realize that the sound I heard was my bubble popping!

There's always someone better eh?

No LED star or blade in mine, it's just going to sit on the shelf and look pretty.

My replica is coming along, but...

Anyone know where I can find a d-ring like this? Or do I have to make one?
