is it possible to require posters to use meaningful thread headings that indicate what the topic actually is instead of ones like "Probably a stupid question, but..." or "Help!" or "sorry if this sounds dumb but..." or "Save me Stryder..."?
I realize this forum has a really good search engine on it, but if you are new you might not know what words to search for. or you might get 50 posts that contain "MR" or something and none of them have the info you want. I'm really not trying to sound bitchy but the frustration of reading post after post that have titles like this is growing.
just a request, this is an awesome forum overall!

I'd actually more prefer people stuck their heads out of certain forums and posted in the appropriate area. There are like four places I see requests for ETAs on parts and there are two questions in different areas on thermal paste.

In somecases I understand. "Hmm... to post in 'How to build a basic LED hilt' or 'LED discussion'"[?]

this was not directed at anyone in particular and I was not attempting to refer to a particular post. it's just a general gripe.

Hmmmm.........at some point, Tim may want to consider "hiring" a moderator (or more) to help with organization (NOT for smack-downs). These threads are growing, and as more people join in, things will start to clutter up.

The idea is nice but I think perhaps an index is better. One that lists all of the mainly discussed ideas and a big FAQ too.

For example, how many time does "I'd post pictures but I don't know how" and we have to dig up the link. I have the topic ID memorized... it's 133.

I think a FAQ section would do this forum well, that is if people actully use it before they post. Everyone at one time or another falls victum to asking a question that has been previously asked. Hell, I think the "How to post pics" post was brought up by me, leave it to me to be the first one to not know how to do it, right. Anyway, Tim, I am sure that this site is a donting task to say the least. If you need any help, like say- What are the most frequent questions- we are here to help. I know that you probibly know all the questions needed to go into a section like this, however it is always nice to know you have people willing to help to save you time and effort if need be.

I totally missed this thread.

Xwing..when you get time start a new thread and gather up a list of Q&A you guys see all the time and I will add them to the Q&A section and maybe make it stand out more. Then when people post the same questions you can all just do a quick response with the link to the Q&A thread.

Cool. I'll get on that in the morning. Contrary to some peoples belief I sleep... and not with my laptop next to me.[:p]
