I'm putting this together and am thinking that I should lose a choke. Opinions please...

As you can see it's long at 15 inches-- however, it's different.

I could always lose a choke and it'd look like this.

What do you think?

I like the last one.

what if you use o-rings on the thin neck near the pommell
(don't know just throwing out a thought)

last pic better, as a matter of fact my friend was over just a bit ago, and we looked in the store and at my hilt, and was thinking the exact same design as the 2nd pic.

sweet I like the double choke point, you could cut a peice of sink tube to put over the rear choke polint, then maybe add some drilled holes or vents and mount an accent light led on the chokepoint, would be hard though. The only problem I have with the choke point on mine is that the activator button is too big, and gets in the way of hand movement, I would suggest placing the switch hole near the pommel of the saber.

BTW I saw many extra parts in the background, perhaps try a blade holder for the pommel. Could be interesting.

Just throwing this out:

Keep both chokes, put another blade holder in place of the pommel, and have a short blade in that end, something like 12-18", opposing a regular length blade. Might make for a unique saber and an interesting new fighting style.

(Just 2 pennies worth of inane blathering.)

Here is finished-- White K2 with Puck running on 4 AA. The insides on this baby are so clean-- every bit of the wires are shrink-wrapped. I spent about 2 hours putting it all together.

I really love building these TCSS sabers. I placed another order tonight-- I'm going to build my son (15 months) a little tiny saber with a LUX III--lol

As for the switch-- on top/ bottom:
I went with the bottom-- I tried spinning both ways. The choke on the top is great for spins, and if the switch is on top then the saber inadvertently gets shut off. As far as the choke point on the bottom, it's too long-- it's like swinging a Tatooine Maul, I'm just not that good yet. Anyways I have it still, i can always put it on. That's what's great about these MHS's.

I would say with the switch at the bottem I would toss in a clamp or a control box of sorts.

Heres a couple ideas I could think of.

Its got an origional trilogy feel to it and I say run with it. i forgot to put in the image the top one is a luke ROTJ control box.

What kind of filter did you use for blade color?

Alright, aside from maybe some O-Rings this guy is done. I have a bunch of Luke ROTJ control boxes laying around and thought what the heck. That and the fact that Hasad went through the hastle fo rendering those great 3D images. So I drilled and tapped a couple holes at the bottom of the hilt and rewired the box (I'll add aome nuts in the hilt as well ;) ) . I think it looks sort of original. It was plenty easy too.

This saber is powered by 4AA's, a 1000mA Puck, has a white K2, with TCSS's filters. The blade is a 40" blank, and I rolled 2 layers of Corbin's film.

I was right. deffinatly looks awsome with a control box of sorts.

Stick a fork in her-- she's done. I wired up another FX sound card, only I bypassed the led leads on the card and crammed the 1000mA puck in there. It still has the same K2 white LED.
I sanded and painted the hilt and control box with flat black paint (4 coats). and here she is.

Where are the sound holes?

jpbeck

you can't tell from the pictures but I have that cover recessed into the pommel about and 16th of an inch all the way around. I built up a few shelves in the pommel for the cover to sit on, anyways, it puts out decent sound-- I ordered another FX sound card today and the guy includes the stock battery sled-- so when that gets here-- I'll pull the speaker screen off that and stick it in this.

Ah ok, I love the way it looks man, its got a very deffinate OT feel to it.

Looks good with the paint but it make the emitter feel naked. IMO you should paint either the choke or some of the emitter, just me though.

See I'm just the opposite-- it's not a saber if it doesn't have a choke. I thought about painting it, but I use the choke so much for spinning it'd wear off fast (don't ever take off my wedding ring).

That's pretty sweet! looks really well balanced too!

I agree... ain't no saber (especially for staged combat) if it ain't got no choke point.

Preferably at the balance point... which is usually at the emitter area... but not always.
