Hello everyone,
Thanks upfront to all the posters on here. I was able to answer all my questions and build these two sabers with no trouble thanks to all the posts on here. The amber saber was first and is totally MHS. The 2nd is sink tube/MHS. Both have Hasbro sound and recharge ports and the 2nd has the LED power bar in the hilt as well. The pic of it is kind of dark though.

Also on both, I used a Graflex glass eye as the blade retention screw. The cool thing I did though was drill down through the middle of the screw so you could see the light from the blade in the eye of the screw itself as well. The hole doesn't go all the way through the screw, just down through the threads enough to let the light from the blade light up the clear bubble on the head of the screw.

nice work, what kind of LED/Filter did you use for the purple saber?

Sorry, forgot to say both are Lux IIIs. The purple one is just white with the purple filter on it.

I figured it was filtered as there are few ways to make a purple blade, what did you use for the filter?

The plastic purple one that comes in the bag of assorted filters sold in the shop here. I wanted to just be able to have one and change the color whenever I wanted so I went with that.

question

How strong is the screw now that you drilled a big hole in it?

Good question and I don't really know. It's gonna be weaker for sure, but to be honest, I won't be doing any kind of dueling with these anyway so it's really just for looks. I'd be willing to wager though that it would still work just fine as a blade retention screw even if you were to duel with it drilled like that. It's a 10/32 screw and drilled a pretty small hole in it so there was still plenty of actual screw left.

cool It does add a nice look to the saber.

Thanks for the compliments. I've been looking at the ones a lot of you are making and have made with envy. Hopefully I'll get as good as some of you eventually.
