Hey guys,

These first pics were in another thread but I wanted to do a full progression thread. Tonight I did a test fit of all my hilt parts and thought it looked pretty good, wanted to show it off :)

Wow! Now THAT is a slick looking saber hilt! All that Dremel work! Impressive! MOST Impressive!

A very serious looking saber you've got going on there! I like it. Wanna sell it? ;)

WOW!!! This is a very nice/clean saber. It reminds me of Kyle Katarns lightsaber off of SW JK II outcasts and academy, only in a different color and hilt style. But nice saber.

Amazing work on the shroud! I can't imagine how long it must have taken to get that just right. Looks great all polished up!

That is one of the coolest sabers I have seen in a while, no offense to anyone else. You can really tell that a lot of pride went into the cutting of that shroud. Excellent. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I was looking at the pics and thought, hmm cool shroud. uhuh, uhuh... then I saw the finished saber (minus guts). Then the drooling started.

In short, thats one sweet lookin' saber!
What color LED are you gonna put in there?

Thanks guys, happy you like it :)

As for the color, when I ordered the hilt parts I ordered a luxIII royal blue. Seeing this thing come together I decided that I may want to rethink it so I ordered some quick disconnects so I can try a few different colors in there.

Amber is one of the ones I would like to try Hasid, I also thought it would look pretty cool.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I appreciate it. I will post more as I go.

I think an amber would look sick with that hilt.

Dacota,

The aluminum tube I used for the shroud/overlay piece was ordered from Online Metals. It was a 1.5 ID, 1.75 OD .125 wall that was 12 inches long. It doesn't fit snug on MHS parts but this allowed me to go nuts with the epoxy paint. It is also allowing me to line the inside of the shroud with black felt. This will snug it up but more importantly I can remove and replace the shroud without scratching the hilt paint. The two thumbscrews at the tip... one is for the blade and the other is shorter and holds the shroud in place.

Tonight I started doing the felt lining.... ugh lol

Thank you very much, I believe you did say that somwhere else but I missed where, so thanks. I wonder with the mhs parts being 1.45 if it could be powdercoated enough to bulk it up a little to fit snug but not to a scratching point? Hmmm....possibilities.

that is an amazing look, you may have just started a new trend in shrouds, I'm already wondering what I can do with an MHS hilt wrapped in one of those pipes cut with a pattern.

... you may have just started a new trend in shrouds ...

Seriously! I am rethinking my projects to account for the possibilities of these thicker tubes :)

Thicker tubing for shrouds/sleeves can look great. I ordered the same size 1.5 inch and split it down the middle then squeezed it tight around the MHS product before drilling/tapping a couple holes to hold it tight in place.
