I remembered I haven't posted any pics of my saber here since I built it. Now, I consider it far from done and I am not sure on where to go next with it.

That looks sweet man. It's so simple, yet effective.

What did you use on the grips to get em black?

Looks like an MR Vader to me.

Yep, it's a vader sound board. The grips are thick electrical tape I took my time wrapping and they still look excellent. I am trying to find the black leather wrap that I used on my claymore, I bought it at a swap meet before and don't know where to find it.

I do love the look of this saber all uniform like this and it is so easy to spin! I was thinking of some claws for the top to compliment the emitter, I just don't know yet that is expensive if I decide that I don't like the look. I like my blade also It's still at 40 inches but it looks good that way.

Maybe a custom single claw claw mount and a custom claw, and then the claw will be on what would be the bottem side of the saber.

I think it wouldlook neato.

hi would you care to share how you wired up that sound board basically the insides of you saber please and tell me what you used. i have a spared functional board that i want to know how to mount inside a saber and what not thanks

That claw Idea sounds good but I don't have much access to machinery I would have to ask about getting it custom made. The board is a vader with just a four AA battery pack and speaker wired to it with an amber lux III. I used the tutorial in the MR conversion section here. the speaker is wired by splitting the red power wire to the speaker and the brown extended straight to the speaker, you can find everything on here in the tutorials.

I too like the way it looks, nice and clean, only thing that I would maybe do is some powdercoating on the grips. real nice man.

Iam sur tim could take the claw mount that hes got and mill off the other 2 mounts and make it look sudo different. Then if you could find a piece of aluminum to dremmel out a design on. would look neato.

I'm interested in the heatsink. Is that a custom brass piece, and if so how much did it cost?

Tim's new LED heatsinks are copper/brass TimeRender ;)
He got them made a while back, and cost as much as the old aluminum heatsinks did.

On, the heatsink I would recommend the use of some sort of cpu thermal paste. You can see my tube of paste in my first pic. I had an Idea at work today for some long style claws similar to a dooku only three of them, I'll draw it out and see how it looks to me but this way would be attached at the hilt body itself and run down the length of the top grips.

I hadn't ordered a bladeholder or heatsink in a few months so I had no idea. Did I miss a post about this? At any rate I like it, these should have better thermal properties than the aluminum ones.

I'm pretty sure Tim made a thread in the Official Store News forum about them. You must of just missed it ;-)

But its a brass heatsink. should distribute heat better. Why you would need any paste is beyone me.

not for a lux III. maybe a V. Erv told me to use some of that tape for them since some of the "dark side" colors tend to ground out on a heatsink.

Yeah I know tht the reds and ambers ground out on the bottem of the star.

But I only ever heard that happening to just red.

I may not need the paste on there but at least it's there. I always use pastes when I'm putting a heatsink on a cpu so I just figured what the heck and put it on my mhs too.
