Is this do-able?

Just sat here staring at my minatures when upon looking at Lord Sideous a thought hit me like Sith Lightning!

How about a cane which splits at the handle to create a curved handle lightsaber "and" a long bladed light saber/light spear?

Have i gone off the rails?

where would you put the blades? I think that could work, but the blades get real wobbly when they are over 36 inches.

Not reallym you could try 3/4" blades they can be hidden easyer than 1"

Sounds sweet to me. I don't know where you would put the blades but I like the concept. I know you could hide the curved saber blade inside the length of the can but where would you but the blade for the spear? Hhhmmmm.....makes you think:idea:

Detachable blades, just a novelty saber idea.

I'm all for a cane saber idea! I still would like to make one like those cane swords with the blade hidden inside.

That would be pretty simple to do.

Sounds do-able. Granted, a polycarb blade would take up room, but just as a means of having a pair of sabers connected without blades, I don't see why it couldn't be done. The idea would be a neat thing to see in a fan film or something.

I've considered having a longer staff type pole with a Luxeon saber on the end, like a spear or a naginata/halbred. I hadn't considered your way of doing it with a cane though. Pretty cool concept. Personally, I'd have the cook of the handle be more like 90 degrees, so that the one saber would function more like a side handle baton, but that's just me.

Sounds like it could be a Zatoichi style saber

Even without the curve it would look sweet!

dude ideas like this are fun and great if ever come to realization. I hope you can do it cause it'll be frickin' sweet. I'm working on my second and probably final saber. I have grad school to pay for and what not so yeah I at least got one and am very happy. good luck hope you build it. OH i've always has a though of mounting a saber core inside a bokken handle but yeah still working on it.

Zatoichi was a blind samurai, the blade your thinking of is a Shikomizue.

They were used when the sword was banned and they crafted them straight like that to conseal that its a sword and appear like a cane/walking stick.

I know it is a bit dated but it was a cool movie.

Something like this?

Granted, it's not a bokken handle, it's a purpose-made luxeon saber made in a katana style. I picked this one up from Ambo and will post pics when it's done.

Like they always say... "If it's not BOKKEN, don't fix it" :)

Blind Fury was based on the Zatoichi stories, an underrated movie I feel, dumb yes, but the good kind of dumb decidedly near the top of the badmovies Rutger Hauer did :)

I got the idea off of a Yu Yu Hakusho episode where Kurabara first gain his spirit sword and had to use a broken Bokken or piece of wood i think to but whatever it was a thought. Haha but yeah i'll work on it once i finish my grad schooling haha.

no not quite but something to it was was actually going to us a bokken. Saw of the blade on the wooden sword, then hollow out the center of it wooden handle and mount stuff inside.

Errr.... Rutger Hauer movies........ {spine shivers}

Anyway..... Who else done a Katana saber? Was it Darth Dan?
They've included one in the KOTOR comics, Master Zeln has his whole outfit very samurai inspired to match!

I love Ambo's stuff, especially his Tonfa. That was the one he made before all the kids wanted one...sigh...
