Well here it is, pretty much done. just maybe a few cosmetic changes.
Running a 3.0 CF, 7.2 rechargeble, recharge port, lux III royal blue (messed up my lux V cyan) :( I used the stock luke switch and added a mini momentary switch. This sucker is lound! And I thought my other mhs was loud. gonna have to fix that (maybe a CF 2.6 for it) ;D
I take crappy pics but here they are.

that's stingray skin in the grip area, and the luke pommel, still can't decide on the tri ring or covertec.

found these at radioshack. came with a black and red one. they fit into the luke box if I bent the pins. plenty of room when I got it in there.

Very nice, Vort!

Looking forward to hearing and seeing video of it... it's a shame about you saying you fried an LED, but... we've all been there.

One good thing about K2 "light side" LEDs (FYI)... it is pretty impossible to fry them using Erv's CF... no matter WHAT ledcurrent configuration you give it. For obvious reasons. :)

Hope to hear all the sound fonts you're using in there!

Looks cool vortex! I want to do a saber with ray skin. I've seen several people do it and it looks awesome!
Sorry about your LED gettin' fried.:( When I was building my second MHS I almost fried one of my white K2s. (Had the wrong resistor)

thank guys!. Ya I don't think it was the config of erv's board. but not sure what it did. I'll work on a vid this week/end. I really like the ray skin but I got to find a diff way to cut it. scissors just don't cut it very good.

ya not sure about the lux V, thanks everyone. the CF is the best board out there. I still have to learn how to change some things, but I'll get it.

There is no try ring, I play with it enought that if there was a try ring I could of ripted it off long ago myself.

God I need my saber parts.

VT, did you put the green K2 in this one? Do you think it looks any better?

vortextwist
05-02-2008, 01:39 PM
yes I did eastern, I don't know if it was a shade off or something but it seemed to lack a bit. still a nice led but I'm opting to put the lux III in. On a side note, seems my bro or me not sure who, but the recharge port broke off on the inside, so rewireing I go. I'm also thinkin of ditching the lower grip section and adding my ribbed to the top so the box will be at the bottom. I'll try to get it done this weekend and get some pics up.

Hasid Lafre
05-02-2008, 02:46 PM
YEah I cant figure out when or how the hell it happened.

eastern57
05-02-2008, 05:17 PM
That's a very understanding brother. I only had a sister growing up, and she wasn't any where near as understanding if I'd messed up anything of her's... wasn't even no question if she'd done it herself - always my fault...

and I have to say, that k2 is a big disappointment all around - I wouldn't blame you if you went back to the 3w. Are the blue k2s any good? I'd get one and be inclined to give that one away too...

vortextwist
05-02-2008, 05:29 PM
I havn't tried any other k2 besides a white. I think the problem with the recharge port was the battery wasn't sitting against anything so swinging it caused the batt to pull on it. I'm hopeing this redesign/ rewire will fix this problem.

werd yo, cant wait to get a switch idea then assembling mine.

eastern57
05-03-2008, 10:31 AM
What kind of switch are you leaning towards?

Hasid Lafre
05-03-2008, 10:44 AM
not sure yet, thinking of having xwing do a tact switch setup then an install.

eastern57
05-03-2008, 10:52 AM
smart idea. I've never subdued my feeling towards tactile switches - they're just awesome

vortextwist
05-04-2008, 06:24 PM
well I got the ol' girl reassembled and redid the design a bit and while I was at it I swiched out the 3.0 for the 4.0 but seems my lux III didn't like the new 4.0 cf running at 1.5, it went poof.
I still have some stuff I want to do but I like it better this way.

eastern57
05-04-2008, 08:39 PM
Poof? as in - it burnt out? cripes. If it was absorbing 1.5A [for however long] before, I could maybe see that. Did you have the screws on the pommel-bumps before? It looks nice.

edit: nevermind about the pommel-bumps, I saw

Hasid Lafre

I dont know what would of done it, maybe it killed the led when he was soldering it to the wires who knows but iam pritty sure it dident die cause of the current.

vortextwist
05-05-2008, 01:40 AM
not sure either becouse it was working fine at led current set at 45 then when I bumped it to 70, poof, just went out.

Dang dude, that looks like a completely different saber.
You're gonna have to rename this thread "My new CF 4.0 MHS"

ya I guess your right, lol I'm still contiplating sending it in to tim for powdercoating but real unsure of the color or sceam. I was also thinkin of a brass overlay. right now I'm haveing a little issue, seems I have a faint glow when the saber is off. sound is all good but no flicker effects and the led is just real dim.

Er Dan Gill
05-05-2008, 06:33 PM
Bummer on the issues your having. Wish I could help you but those CF's are my unicorn, I've heard that they exist, and seen picture's, but other than that I'm not real sure they even exist.http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif

Ya, I may just switch out the led and see what happens, Then I'm really lucky, I have 3 unicorns.:)

I had a Lux III blue that did the same thing to me, and it was just being run on an MR board...not sure what happened to it, but it quit working a few days later.

vortextwist

I wander if the values changed from v3 to v4 becouse I was running the green at 1.5 and I swiched out the board for the 4.0 and now no worky. maybe a coincidence. since ervs site is being worked on I can't get the pdf files to look.

Hasid Lafre
05-05-2008, 09:09 PM
well keep the kill keyin untill you get things sorted out. I think I know what sup with the switch. I think its set to a different aux switch. on the 3.0 its susposed to be at 0 IIRC.

I think thats whats making it keep going when you turn it on.

vortextwist
05-06-2008, 01:33 PM
no, becouse everything was working just fine! Erv said it was in the pulse mode but I don't think he understood, with the kill key out and switch off the led is still on but very dim.

Hasid Lafre
05-06-2008, 02:15 PM
Wire connected wrong maybe? Iam out of ideas.

don't see anything and I have it all apart

eastern57
05-06-2008, 09:10 PM
Erv had me take pictures when mine wasn't working so well, preferable to the closest detail [macro], he has a good eye and might be able to spot a flaw.

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn260/eastern57/Misc/CFSCv30back.jpg

And as for adding powder coating... it certainly does add personality to the overall appearance, but there's a timlessness to "simplicity" - "intense" and "awesomeness" have a tendency to wear off after a while...

Hasid Lafre
05-06-2008, 10:15 PM
Hes using a 4.0 now.

Mainly the problem is that when you turn it on it imeadiatly goes into lock up mode and if you hold it just right it stops and acts normal, so the possability of the switch being messed up is high.

But I cant figure out for the life of me what killed that led.

eastern57
05-09-2008, 05:50 AM
VT, I think you may have an answer.

quick question for one, both or all:

How do you affix the Luke ROTJ pommel to an MHS?

vortextwist
05-11-2008, 02:53 PM
well I had tim machine me a custom pommel but I just used some button head screws. depends on what type of look your goin for.

Hasid Lafre
05-11-2008, 03:36 PM
Yep button heads, I wanted to do something like my bro did but when I found out the one I got was one my brother previously owned I had to change my plan a bit.

eastern57
05-12-2008, 04:38 PM
I like the "ROTJ pommel at the end of an MHS extension" look, at least that's what I'm planning.

I was inspired by Madcow's and Killphil's luke V2 and Dark Helmet's Ancient saber... I just need to find an MR Luke ROTJ pommel... any kind souls out there?
