how come you won't build your own custom saber?

Rather than bogging Tim down go to www.randomsabers.com

He's insanly booked but his specialty is customs. He can do EL or LED ready hilts also.

just buy a modular hilt and blade. It's not that hard to put the stuff together.

Honestly, Neymore. It's so much more rewarding to do it yourself. And the Modular Hilt System works so nicely. After getting the parts, it took me about an hour to get the electronics soldered and installed (not even an hour) and then it was just a matter of drilling and tapping for a thmb screw.
And before then, I'd had no experience with soldering, tapping, or anything of the sort.

Let your creativity flow, my man!

I'm assuming it's lack of tools and skill to get the job done, not lack of creativity. I bet he needs something done on a mill or lathe which is not something the ordainary person would have.

Dude there is more joy in building your own, rather than having someone else build it for you.

heck, look at what i put together, all i have is simple hand and power tools. thats all you need, yeah, it would be nice to have a lathe, but i dont. if i can do what i do with not that much to work with, you can do the same thing. its not that hard. just take your time and not rush. rushing is when you'll be more likely to screw up.

You dont know the POWER, of the dark side...

I have made tons of painted up PVC sabers and toyed a little with a few drain pipe hilts which is just darn right fun to randomly use stuff from anywhere to build something. I do not have a lathe or anything so I understand the desire for something like a totally custom hilt and I am hoping to get one done someday. For the meantime I have my order placed for some EL stuff to make a few sabers for the kids and there is nothing more fun than building it yourself. Already started thinking of a LED saber:)

Most of us are new to this and it is the creativity we share with each other that inspires everyone. We all come from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of tools at our disposal, but designing what you like and finding a way to build it are among the greatest aspects of building your own saber, am I right?
cheers

Echo...

Here's a compromise...
Design your lightsaber in segments. Find out what parts you can get/make yourself, and then have a machinist (or Tim) make the ones you can't.
You will feel great that you designed and built your own saber.
