OK so I came up wit this hilt design:

Parts from left to right:
Pommel style 4
2 in. Double female connector
1/4 in. male/male connector
Hilt Style 2
MHS claw style 1
Emitter Style 7

It comes out to about 11 inches total, all using MHS parts, the only unavailable parts are the MHS claw 1 pieces, which I might omit for a different/more expensive emitter if it looks like they won't be in soon.

What I need help with is how to wire the thing, and some advice on how to disguise the switch maybe.

I'm looking at getting a k2 red off lumileds (I'd rather buy it here TBH, but I don't see a standard red in the store), and running two buck pucks to power it, I'd like to have some basic sound, but have no Idea how to go about that, I'll keep browsing but advice would be appreciated. I've heard about rechargeable ports being installed and that sounds pretty cool, but I don't see any info on how thats done, so any help there would make my day as well.

anyway thanks in advance for any help/advice, and thanks to Tim and company for creating a set of parts that I can use so easily.

Hope that helps :D

the recharge one is a big help for sure, I've seen the other electronics threads, they seem to omit some basic info on amperage/wattage/voltage and how you need to deal with them when designing your setup, my experience with electronics is very basic so I'm kind of at sea with all that terminology. basically I've come out with 2x700 MAh buckpucks to run a k2, but I have no idea how to hook two of them up.

nm, I just found some threads on electronics basics, that should probably answer my questions on wiring, now I just need to figure out how to add sound.

Why do you want a RED K2?!?! The Red III is brighter.

is it? then I'll probably go with that, still in the very preliminary stages, was thinking of going with a white K2 with disks but the design of this saber screams sith so I might as well get the brightest red I can easily work with. would probably be easier to set up anyway.

OK so I've been revising my design a bit, I'm planing on going with a red luxeon III which shows as 1400 MA, I want to use a Hasbro board both to keep the cost down, and to get some experience soldering on boards while I'm at it. I've seen some info on the Hasbro boards around but I still have questions, mainly:

whats the best way to power the LED?

From what I can tell two buckpuck 700's would supply exactly the right amount of power, am I correct or am I missing something?

What would the circuit for two buckpucks look like?

Are the Hasbro boards both light and sound or just sound?

finally will all this crap fit in a hilt with a little under ten inches of usable space? (the saber I detailed would have 9.25 inches of space not including the pommel and the blade holder, I plan to use the pommel for mounting a speaker if there's room for a soundboard or a recharge port if I nix the sound.

basically what I'm going for here is to match the features of an MR saber with a better luxeon blade and my own personalized hilt.

Thanks for any advice the masters here can impart to a clueless newbie:mrgreen:
