it looks like the spring just hits the side of the sensor to make the hit contact..

kinda like the older ones were. but this ones encased in a tube. i hd one that had a metal rod with a spring over it. when the spring hit the rod, clash sound.

I have seen both clash style sensors, one encased and one with spring in half tube style. I consider the encased one (the one pictured above) to be far superion. Not based on function but on practicality. In the exposed spring style, if not mounted with room to spare, the spring can be moved or hit(usually by cramed wires) and produce clash sound with no clash. Just my 2 cents...

oh i agree scaarmor. the newer style is far and above better. i was just stating i remembered the older spring over post type from a ways back, thats all.
