I have now started the construction of the saber for my Pirate Jedi. Here is the original idea.

Here is my base.

The tube is 1.25 inches. I bought a Park's Arm Shank but it was too big for the saber. I am looking into another option or changing the pommel. I'll post more as I work on it.

I think I saw that same piece of metal at Home Depot and was going to use it as a base for two curved hilts by cutting it in the middle. I think the curve would be more useful that way, around a smooth 45 degree angle to each half.

Just my two cents =P

Looks like a cool idea.

I agree with Kabraxxis though. I think cutting that section in half would give you a much more comfortable grip. But then again, it would be much shorter. That would be fine for a single handed setup, but might prove too short for a two handed setup. If you're using one of our 1.25" sink tube adapters, you'd need a bit of space for the batteries.
Maybe just cutting the tubing a little longer than right in the middle would give you enough space. Depending on your LED choice, you can get away with a reasonably small battery package.

I look forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Unfortunately I can’t use a 1.25” sink pipe adapter. Because this is an aluminum pipe with a 1” opening, I have to create something. I’m using the heat sink Tim sells here but I must create something to separate the lens and the blade. I plan to use a washer that fits the opening and bore out the hole more to ensure enough light gets through.

I only fight one handed but I need the bottom half of the hilt to hold the batteries.

Get a couple small c clips that will fit inside and use then to hold the optics down.

Awesome idea. I'm trying that.

Email me.
I've got something made specifically for that type of setup. I used it on my Killer Penny saber and have a spare laying around here somewhere. I'll send it to you for free.

I got it all packaged up and will ship it out in the morning. I printed off a picture that shows how to use it as well.

Thanks Lord Tollo

But I'm no God. Not even a Saint. I just happened to have an extra piece that I thought you'd be able to use.

Hope this serves you well.

Here is an update. After testing the battery pack some, I've decided that since I have the extra room, I will be shortening the hilt. I plan to cut an inch off the front and about 2 off the back.

I have also reconsidered the Arm Shank because it may look "big" on the hilt now but once I wrap it in leather, the ratio will change. I still created two alternates just in case

Here are all three on the hilt

Next I will paint it black. Not sure what paint to use yet but because most of it will be covered, I can run tests. I'll will post more on my paint tests.
