Hi guys,

On the Lux website it shows the K2 compatible with the 700 puck, I read through billions of threads on the TCSS forum and I see some people recomending the 1000 puck.

I want to run a green K2, which puck & battery combo in your opinion?

Also, this is a temporary set up until the US boards come in but I dont want the basic resistor...

Thanks guys.

The max for a K2 is 1500mAh. So ANY will work below that. The closest will be two 700's for 1400mAh. 1000mAh is an okay compromise for space and the brightness is still better by a bit compared to a III.

Thanks X :)

Since it is temporary I think I will just go with a single 1000 then, thanks for the info.

What about a power source? The standard 4AAA, is that enough for the puck & K2? I will need a rechargable when the soundboards are available but for now regular batteries are cool.

Be careful, as "light side" K2s are looking for 1500ma...
...but "dark side" K2s are looking for 700ma.

I know you said green, but... I don't want others to get confused as well...

Always read the LED specifications--available on the lumileds website or other sources as well. I believe Tim posts a chart for this too.

4 AAA's or 4 AA's should be all the battery you need for a k2.

Thanks Jay-gon, I just ordered all of my electronics and I got a 4AA pack. This should do until I get a sound card and bump up to rechargeable.

I started this MHS thinking I was gonna use a royal blue lux III but as I worked on the hilt and ended up with brass pieces on it I couldn't help but agree with Nova that brass accents look best with a green blade.

I agree with the blue for silvery metals and green for gold/brass. IMHO brass also looks good with amber blades

Jay answered this already, but as a reminder. Buckpucks can handle up to 24V worth of battery output. That gives you the option of some REALLY impressive run times when using those particular drivers.

I have noticed that with more voltage passing through, a little extra heat is passed off, but that was with a Lux V, and not the K2 info that you were wanting... :)

The closest will be two 700's for 1400mAh.

You would run those in parallel, right?

Yes you run them in parallel for 1.4A. Series would still be 700mA.

What i dont understand is how you wire things up in parallel and series?

Just like everything else...

Series is "daisy chaining them". +'s go to -'s. It's early but I don't think driver's in series does anything worthwhile... for batteries it's how we get higher voltages by adding, for resistors it also adds their values, etc...

Parallel is +'s being with +'s and -' with -'s. This takes more amperage but less voltage. For batteries this increases capacity, for resistors it divides the total resistance, and for driver's adds to the total amperage being sent.

Thanks, Morbius and X.

It's been about 15 years since I studied electrical theory and I haven't used it since. My rusty brain is trying to re-learn it.

I have a green K2 on order, and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with it.

Obi-Dar, my green K@ is currently run from a single 1000 Bpuck. It definitely isn't as bright as it could be. I did this for a temporary set up, When the store is online again I am going to order a Corbin driver for it. If you want the K2 to be bright and still want to use the buckpuck, I suggest taking the others advice about the two 700 Bpucks.

What kind of voltage are you going to put into that Corbin driver?

No problem! 8)

Green K2's are NICE. Almost as much punch as a Lux V but less voltage requirement!

Lotsa bang for the buck!

Corbin's board spits out an "average" of about 1000ma. To put it simply.

Good to know. Thanks.
