I Just got a Sith robe off of Ebay, very sweet! The Venor was smoral_media Waited about a month due to supply problems on their end, paid $62.00 + S&H. Is this alot, or reasonable, or great deal? Compared to whatever deals are out there.[:)]

Not a bad deal depending on the materials and craft, if you really wanted to go cheap getting the materials you like and sewing a cloak is really cheap. I got the pattern from a McCalls pattern for a samurai coat and just lenthened it to the my feet. Of course I didn't do the sewing... but I found all the stuff and handed it of to the woman of the house.[:D]

Kinda curious, what kind of fabric is it made from?

It depends. The OT Obi-wan is a much thicker material, but the cloaks in the prequels are a much smoother material. I happen to like a lighter material just because it doesn't feel like you get weighed down by it. I'd be interested in what the one he bought is made out of.

Well, I'm pretty sure anakin didn't make his fancy individual jedi outfit by himself. I bet he handed it off to Padme.[;)]

Here's a link to one going on now. It has a material description which seems to be accurate.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6600327021&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BID_Stores_IT
StrangeWings, I would have, but there never seems to be enough time in the day already, I do know how to operate a sewing maching. [:0] and if you want something done right...
I'm sure though Jedi didn't have time to be tailor's or Clothiers, when they had more important things to do [:D]
With the amount of orders this guy's getting, you could really make some money at this. look at his feedback, and how many he's done.[:0]

the best Jedi/sith costumes can be found if you type in sith robe on the ebay search browser, or sith tunic. the sellers name is speedystitches and his costumes are the ****. his tunic fabrics are the closest match to that of the movies. His Robes are made in two fabrics. you can have it made in some type of twill fabric OR 100% wool. Heres a link to his website http://stores.ebay.com/Speedy-Stitches-Custom-Costumes

Hey guys,

I built a heavy duty robe, they're robes not cloaks if you build ones like Obi-wans not Lukes and is made from Sherpa. It's really heavy duty and waterproof! It cost me $8 a yard on sale but was definitely worth it for up here in Flagstaff, Az where it gets really cold. It broke 4 heavy duty needles while making it! I just used padawansguide.com for the pattern. Check them out, they are really good for the whole outfit. Mine came out just how I wanted it too, and now I'm selling them for $200 to kids at school! hehehehehe. So yeah, depending all ont the material, $60 isn't bad. I spent more than that just for the fabric!

I had my lady sew it up too, so woot for the ladies that think we're hopeless but still love us anyways!

I've bought myself a Sith robe off a seller on E-bay.
Really well made, and it looks realy good.
Currently awaiting my Obi-Wan belt(in black) and a Jedi robe, oh and a friend liked my sith robe so much he asked me to get him one too[8D]

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pan-In-The-Box

BTW it sometimes works out cheaper if you bid on a non-country specific auction, i bought my original robe for approx. $34 including postage, which when i converted it into Pounds Sterling worked out at a tiny £20!!!!!!

Yea Stu the exchange rate for you is great but for us it stinks. I collect SG-1 stuff too and the best stuff is in the UK. I cost almost double in dollars to pounds sterling.

Got my cloak!![:)] It's like a heavy pant grade cotton twill, when I fold it up, feels like a couple of pairs of Blue jeans. Not bad. There were lots of other ones, but my wallet still needed time to recover from buying the Vader costume [:0]

I got a lady to make mine for me from a pattern I found. It cost about $30 in fabric... but this way I got to pick my own. It feels so nice, I'm tempted to wear it around all the time. Every once in a while my wife will come home and I'll be wearing it and she'll look at me like "nerd", and I'll look back at her all serious and say "what?"

I've been considering the official licensed deluxe edition. Runs about 80 dollars on amazon, free shipping.

The 40 dollar one seems too light, and anything in wool or heavier I'm worried is too much. I live down here in North Carolina and it's still hot come October, and especially in the summer convention season.

My jedi costume I got off of ebay for about 130 dollars (IIRC), and it is such an amazing buy, I am still shocked at how great the detail is...the ribbing in the tabards and the obi, the multiple tunics...just great.

Switching back to the robe, I don't need it to be exactly like the movie, just like the saber I'm building is not an exact model from the movie, but I want it to look right for my costume and other props, and be functional more than authentic.

If the necropost is relevant to the thread topic, it's not necessarily bad to make that post.

This is probably one of the oldest ones I've seen done, though. :p

Won the auction for 45 dollars, plus 7 dollars to ship it. saved myself 30 dollars for some MHS gear :P

Sorry about the necropost everyone, I'll pay more attention next time.

All good and done, but since you did, post what you got (when you get it, including pics)and what your review on the product is. :) That way it can also help others in the future when looking :)

Yah, do that. Then you won't have raised the dead in vain.

Causa

alright.

well first, the sizing was spot on. It's like I modelled for this thing. The sleeves on the robe fall to my wrists, and the robe itself falls exactly to the tops of my feet. No need to pin it or anything.

The hood is perfect for a jedi robe...my main complaint about most of the mass produced stuff out there is that the hood is always way too small, like a rain coat.

The robe doesn't have pleats per-say, but the hood piece is attached at the throat, rather than further back towards the shoulders, so the weight of the hood pulls the robe open to sort of flare out at the neck and give it the look of a pleat in the front, or of being "breasted", I guess you could say.

It is polyester, which means that it's not going to breathe well, but honestly I still think that it will be lighter than wool, and it moves perfectly as far as the weight goes. It's not immobile, but it doesn't flitter about like the 30 dollar version.

As for the images...my girlfriend is out of town for a bit, so I have to use the mirror >.> and on top of that my camera batteries died, and all of the AA's I could find were also dead, so sorry about the cell phone pictures.

Also I was rushing to get in and out of costume, so I didn't put on the belt or fuss over the tabards too much. I promise my actual costuming standards are pretty high.

While digging out most of my jedi costume, I realized that my boots and my belt are missing...probably wherever my original lightsaber went off to. I can still take better pictures pretty soon, but they will still be sans belt and boots.

Oh well, this is an opportunity to take advantage of the post episode III products, or see what custom stuff is out there.

I just finished the guts about 30 minutes before this picture, which are in a shoebox nearby. The hilt is empty, which is why my thumb is covering the button hole :p

man I've re-linked that top picture 3 times or so, and sometimes it shows up the right size, and sometimes it shows up HUGE, and the picture is sized properly, but when it's linked here...it just decides to be giant sometimes.

Yeah... the tunic is quite short. It looks OK when it's about halfway down your thigh. Think of a miniskirt. With it that short....

I would say $60 something + s/h isn't bad for a good robe. The authentic non deluxe one is $50 something on ebay so i f the quality and craft is good, I'd say you got a good deal.

Disney pulled museum replicas license but they show up on eBay officially licensed ROTS Lucas robes and tunics. I've paid more for homemade ones that don't compare. Well I guess that's obvious
