I've read all the LED and MHS tutorials and can't find a tutorial that actually tells me how to attach the polycarbonate tube. Can anyone help me?

Insert polycarbonate tube into end of blade holder and tighten down thumbscrew.

The thumbscrew question is one of the more basic ones and is not as prominent in the tutorials as it could be. It's mentioned here: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=340 and here http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3409 with some good illustrations. The summary is that yes you need to drill and tap the blade holder and get a thumbscrew or hex screw to hold the blade firmly.

I was asking me the same thing... does the thumbscrew insert in the blade too? How does one single screw hold the blade so firmly (if it is firmly...) ?

No, the thumbscrew doesn't insert into the blade. It holds it in place by friction. Understand though that it isn't just the screw that holds it in place. The screw forces the blade to make contact with the blade holder, and the blade holder then holds the blade in place. There is a lot more contact than you might initially imagine, and it holds it quite securely.

Some people do insert into the blade, it's their choice.

Most just tighten & let the magic that is friction do it's work.
