My brother found this and wants to know how hard it would be to make the Plo Koon Saber Claw seen here. He said it should have a single activation switch, as well as a single battery pack, all contained in the gauintlet section, not the hilt section.

I know it would be a exotic and quite elegant piece for costuming, and would make dueling quite a challenge.

Any ideas anyone?

This would be the first saber he's even thought about making. My first design is much simpler.

This was discussed recently but as searching for 'claw' or 'saber claw' get you a bucket of references to the MHS claw parts here's the summary of what I got out of it.

Primarily you need two sabers connected by 1) a handle, and 2) at least one brace of some kind to hold it to your forearm. Without the two points of rigid connection it won't have much strength and may twist or break at the handle.

You could do it with one battery and one switch but as you will be drawing twice the amps you will want a much bigger battery if you want the same operating time.

One last thing to consider (and this is just a consideration, not necessarily a reason to not do it) is that having your weapon rigid to your forearm is actually a bit clumsy. Historically it isn't very common to find hand weapons that take the wrist out of the picture as that cuts quite a bit of the maneuverability of the blade/spike/whatever and requires large arm movements to accomplish what could be done with much simpler wrist movements. That being said it gives you a nice armored hand to block with and makes it VERY hard to disarm you.

All the pics are sweet but the basic idea will be shown at the pottem of the page.

That is awesome. The tonfa sabers look great as well. My brother says thanks for the link.

Oh man, awesome! I played a Jedi in a Star Wars game my friend was GMing. His name was Arinn N'vaera and he had two lightsaber tonfas. I even made a picture of him in Paint Shop.
