Sweet

I'd say middle hilt with top blade.

Then again, Top hilt looks gd

Personaly I'd move the handgrip up but as it's your saber, tis your choice.

Very nice looking concepts, liking the middle one, perhaps add some little cosmetic things in the future? :D

Are you going to be using the new saber as an off hand saber?

no, it will be replacing my current MHS set up.

I like the middle too. Not sure which blade I like better tho.

The middle one looks very good, and the amber blade suits it very good too, IMHO... It would be interesting to see the evolution of that one

I like that new version the best Arkai. Looks slick with a blue blade.

ArkaiHalon

I think that's the version I'm gonna go with.

Definitely go with the second with the blue blade.

That looks a whole lot better! I 100% vote for that. When do you think it will be done? I can't wait to see it.

well, this went from being an upgrade to being a whole new saber.
(not that i mind an excuse to build a whole new saber)
So it's gonna be bit, due to financial constraints, unless anyone is interested in doing a parts swap.

From personal experience, I don't think you should put the switch where it is. When I duel, I have one hand right where that switch would be, but I don't know about you. Just thought I would say something.

Talk about a quick evolution  ... I like that second version too, it definitely looks better. About the switch, I would work out something to make it recessed so there´s no possibility of accidental deactivation... Unless you´re using a CF, that is

as for the power switch, i've considered

a. a button shroud as discussed in the MHS wishlist thread.
b. moving it to the pommel using the pommel insert

Depending on how long your saber will be, you could put it in the middle and get one of the switches that don't turn off from being breathed on too hard. I space my hands to where they don't touch the switch. Putting it in the pummel will work just as well, probably better.

inspired by Erv and Kamurah's oddys.

Thats nice but I say you pommel it. Just my opinion.

Dang it, everyone is doing oddys! I hope my parts get here soon so I can oddy up my heiland before everyone else jumps on the band wagon.

As for the design, unless you plan on decorating the hilt I think it would look better with a silver clamp. Plus I'm not sure that is the best placement.

version 3

inspired by Erv and Kamurah's oddys.

Either move the box up a litlle, or make it flatter.

If that's an MPP clamp then it can't be flatter. I've practiced waving my saber around and adjusting the position, and the clamp really does work better near the middle. Either slightly up, or slightly down depending on how you place your hands.

At last, I think I have what I want. Will end up being a whole new saber, instead of just an upgrade though.

Looks good Arkai! If your able to put the switch in the pommel I would suggest it, unless that would interfere with the design. I'm only saying that cause I know from experiance. I'm always hitting the switch.

I agree with everyone on the switch location. I have the same slotted section as in your pic, and have the switch mounted there towards the bottom now. Like so only upside down now.

Thats a cool box you have there Er Dan Gill. What did you use to make it, particularly the activation strip thingy?

Er Dan Gill
11-10-2007, 11:36 PM
One of my MR Obi Wan's sacrificed the control box, and I re-worked it to fit my MHS. The activation strip believe it or not is off of a decade old sound card that was sitting in my garage collecting dust. I cut the part off the board and filed it too fit and then hot glued it in so I could still get it off, the screws holding the box to my MHS are underneath it. If you want some pics give me a PM so that we don't de-rail Arkai's thread too much.
