Hello everybody
I hope this is the right place in the forum to post these pics of my first hilt, which is still in a very early stage of building... Just wanted to know what do you think of it, I´m always open to good advice:

As you can see, I´m using sink tube and PVC (the black ribbed section, I´ve mixed feelings about it). The two grey PVC sections are acting as place holders for now, but I like how the one near the emitter looks, but it needs some more work, obviously (paint, beveling the edges)... And not really sure about the pommel yet. I plan to use a covertec clip near the pommel section, that´s for sure, and a thumbscrew or two, just to keep things in place :D
Open to comments, suggestions, and whatever you´d like to say about it

pretty nice design. very "military" looking. Sleek, efficient, and designed to do a job, not be pretty. I like it alot. I like the ribbed section, and agree that the band at the emitter looks good. I'm not sure about the pommel either, but don't have any suggestions yet.

it reminds me of the impirial knights sabers nice saber!

Could put a angles cut into it say maybe a 20* cut but not pointy ended so its kinda flat on the very bottem still.

my mspaint skills kinda suck for ideas like this, Iam used to basic type stuff, but should get the idea accrost..

Thanks for your comments, they´re inspiring :)

I got the picture. It´s a good idea, I´ll try it and post more photos. Thank you Hasid

What are you using for the grip?
I'm looking at doing my sith one along those lines & don't want it looking like a straight copy of my Imp. Knight saber.
Very nice BTW.

What are you using for the grip?
It´s a piece of PVC pipe (32mm OD), I made the "ribs" with a primitive wood lathe (not more than a power drill with some attachments xD), a rounded dowel, and sanding paper... It´s not the best way to do it, because the PVC tends to heat a lot and bend itself during the sanding, so you have to go slowly. When it was "ribbed", I sanded it in order for the black automotive spray paint to stick to the surface. Still, I´m not very happy with that piece... Should have turned out better
I´m planning to put the activation button in that nail-shaped carving in the ribbed PVC pipe, what do you think? Although this one looks like it´s going to end up as a belt hanger, I´d like to give it some detail

Hello everybody
I´ve been trying a couple of new ideas for the hilt... One is this aluminium band:

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/439/img0044qb0.jpg
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4818/img0048fa7.jpg
I´ve drilled two holes in it in order to keep it in place using a pair of screws that will also help to hold the emitter/blade holder in place. I´ll post more photos later... Imageshack doesn´t love me today

looks good. i liked the full circle, but they both look really good.

I like the half- loop, that's why I put one on my saber!

Well, I managed to log into imageshack... These ones are of the new (tentative) piece on the pommel section:

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/7361/img0046dj3.jpg
http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/6769/img0047xb8.jpg
Unfortunately, the piece did not bend as I expected, and became angled at the two tiny holes... I have some ideas to fix this, though
I´ll try to post the last two pics later, as I continue battling with imageshack
Update: Last two photos of the hilt with the new attachments.

Tomorrow I´d like to start working on the pommel section... If it turns out good, I´ll consider lighting this one (I was thinking of it as a belt-hanger, but... )
Comments, please :)

I'm really liking the metal detailing on this one. I think the new metal band by the emitter needs some refining; it looks a little too rough to fit in with the rest of the saber. That aside, you should definitely light this up :D

Light it up and fix the band on the pommel area. Find someone with a roller of some sort to make the bend right.
Clean up the edges and it would be a kille rlooking hilt.

Well, my one isn't 100% flush, but I feel that's just part of the individuality of it.
Plus, that part i've had floating around for like 4 years & my MHS is less than a year old, so I kinda like it looking out of place!
Personal choice really.

Thanks for your comments and advice :)
I´ve been thinking about lighting it up, and an amber Luxeon 3W should look good on it. In fact, I´ve got one here on my desktop. That brings me another question... The blade holder. I´d like to order a 1.25" blade holder from the shop, but I´m not sure how much the shipping cost would be... Perhaps it would be higher than the blade holder itself!
This week I plan to work on the half loops (got to redo both of them, probably) and pommel section (I have an idea, I´ll try to post pics later), together with the design of the internal electronics holder (a pvc or metal shuttle perhaps). I´ll try to keep you all updated, thanks a lot for your comments

Hello ppl :)
I´ve doing some minor changes to the hilt. This is how the emitter zone half-loop and underplate look now:
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6832/15646831fg2.jpg
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6417/21919663qc8.jpg
Looks better, doesn´t it? I´m thinking of painting that piece under the half-loop black, but not really sure at the moment...
The bad news is this:
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/8048/15788360jc0.jpg
That part is becoming a catastrophic area :P ... Later on I´ll try to cover that with some sort of metallic overlay and add some detail to that part of the hilt.
And now, Ta-DAH! The aluminium plates that will hold the luxeon star:
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/6817/43895993xt5.jpg
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/929/47217674wp7.jpg
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6218/40453354dk1.jpg
The pieces were made from an old external HDD enclosure that I found by accident  . Marker lines are still visible on the little one :P , but doesn´t really matter as I´m going to sand both plates...
Next thing to do will be the grip section... I´ve been thinking of possible alternatives to the PVC piece, because I don´t want the hilt melting in my hand  ... I´ve got a couple ideas involving metal tubing and some kind of overlay to improve gripping, but we´ll see that next time
