I've been hunting for the button too with no luck. I think I am going to go with a black switch, hidden in the black grip area.

Do-Clo done a slide switch in the grip for me on my one.
That seems to be the way most people do it.
Check mine in the gallery or on Do-Clo's site.

thanks guys. I'm using black ribbed tubing for the grip(I'm on a budget of £7.32)so I'll put it in there, U guys are life savers, my dads takin me to maplins electronics today so I'll pick up a white luxeon 3 watt there, they specialise in luxeons apparently,I will also get a 2.20ohmz resistor,my dad has some heatshrinks and a heat gun,.in the concept prop version of imp knight it looks like the button is a small chrome dot near the pommel,I also need some better reference pics cos CP only has a side view
Thanks

Kin, I work for them. We don't sell them anymore!
Only do blue 3w WITHOUT the mounts!

Everything else for the circuit we do, but not the Lux!

We stopped stocking them a year ago.
I managed to grab half a dozen when I found out they were discontinued.
May have a spare 3w white, not too sure.
I definitely need one for my nieces saber, but if I have a spare, it's yours.

We just started stocking LED on a roll, haven't tested it out for effect yet, but was thinking of giving it ago.
If it works, i'm hoping for the same effect as a hyperdyne blade.

WOW! thanks! if you have a spare the address will be in your inbox thingy, THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Barmic Rin

I'll check I have it first. Not 100% sure if it's white or green I have spare.

Pop into maplins still, for the rest of the parts.
Anyone ask what you're building, tell them that it's a saber like the Assistant Manager of Wimbledon's (I got pics in the company newsletter in may if they need pics!)

I only picked it up as I figured I may need it at some point, but since I want to use a low powered one for my niece & she's the only half-pint I have in my family, the spare will just sit there collecting dust.
So you can have it for 00.00 republic Credits, just so long as it gets good use, i'm not fussed.

I'm not too impressed with the effect of a 3w through filter, but since she's 4 & wants a pink one I figure that's the safest option. Like I said, i'll have to verify I do have it to spare first of all.

wow, 0 republic credits!,good thing its 0 cos I dont even have 1 republic credit! :D if you dont have a spare then I'll just beg my parents to let me order one off of TCSS or a UK site :)

a wee tip for making youngling sabers:permanently attatch the blade so that they wont flash themselfs, and since I am a scientific expert(not meaning to brag but got strait level 5s in science W00T!!)I happen to know that`infants eyes are very sensitive to very bright light, and so she could hurt herself by staring directly in to it un less you attch the blade permenently, thus, stopping her from staring directly into light.

Just tryin to save lifes... or eyes.lol

also when does maplins close? my dad might take me there around 6ish

I saw on the maplins site they have luxeon star batwings.

Well, your local maplin should have the 2.2ohm Res, the battery holder, wire, & maybe the acrylic crystal as we do afew kids science sets (check their clearance section, that's where they usually get put now.)

O-rings i'd get from either B&Q or any other local hardware store.
Same goes for the tubing, though try any independant hardware stores as they sometimes have off-cuts of piping.

LED & mount/lens try Rapidonline.co.uk, that's where I got my orange Lux, & if you order before 8pm you can get next day delivery!

The problem with the Imperial Knight lightsaber, is that in the art, the switch is up at the emitter shroud. We builders need that as a blade retention thumbscrew. So, you still do have 2 options, which I believe have already been discussed: install the switch at the pommel as one of those 2 pommel dots, or install a small black slider in the black grip area. I will probably be going with the second option myself.

Good luck, and be sure to post pics when you are done!!

They are there, trust me. Just gotta look for them.

Ranger, on my one Don put the switch in the grip, the same way Nocturne armory do theirs. I find this easier to use than the pommel switch, but each to their own! :D

they're not luxeon but heres the very long description

This range of high brightness star LEDs offers up to 75 lumens at 700mA. The device consists of an LED mounted on a hexagonal aluminium base that functions as a heatsink and is electrically isolated so that the device may be mounted directly onto a metal chassis, etc. The distinctive design of this device enables the mounting of a number of LEDs in a tight configuration, giving an opportunity to create a high light level output in a small area.

High flux output means more energy efficiency than incandescent and most halogen lamps
Solid state technology offers robust and durable technology with a life expectancy of more than 100,000 hours
Long life spans offer savings in reduced maintenance costs
Lambertian radiation pattern for ready-focussed beam with a wide viewing angle of 120° to 140°
Wide range of vivid colours – white and warm white versions available
Applications include reading lights, portable lighting, interior lighting, security and garden lighting, architectural lighting, LCD backlights
Wide operating temperature from –30°C to +110°C
High ESD protection (>8kV)
Instant light – less than 100ns
No UV light generated
Package diameter 19mm, lens diameter 6mm, overall height 6mm

So they're not here for the 3w:

http://www.rapidonline.com/productinfo.aspx?tier1=Electronic+Components&tier2=Optoelectronics&tier3=Power+LEDs&tier4=3W+Star+LED&moduleno=74701

or here for the 5w:

and the optics certainly aren't here, are they?

I'm not too impatient, my dad will get annoyed if I just say" well lets order it tomorow or the next day"and so on cos he's always too busy, even when he works from home. all I know is that he's a vice president for a company in dubai. something to do with computers.
