I've shot a few PMs to people asking this question but I'm anxious to start working on this saber so here it is.

I have this MR board I bought a while ago and it came with none of the stock wiring on it. I've never wired up an MR SB yet so I don't wanna bork my first one. Here is a pick of it so you guys can point out which leads do what. thanks in advance guys!

check the wireing conversions for the vader or maul, they will be the same.

1-6 is ground. the top 2 are pos and clash sensor. you will need one to make it work right.

So as is it won't function, bummer. How would one go about getting a clash sensor only? I can directly solder wires onto the pins on the right side right? I wouldn't know where to find the harness for that.

crap... didn't need to answer that PM then...

No, you don't need a clash sensor for it to work. You just won't get the clash sound.

ok I'm going to assume then that it is safe to solder onto the pins on the side where the harness connects (the white piece). unless someone out there has a spare layin around. I suppose I'll ask tim if he has any spare clash sensors or harnesses. thanks guys.

who knows he may. from what erv said it's safe to solder to those pins.

I got a clash sensor from corbin for my project. Its an intresting clash sensor, never seen one like it.

who knows he might be abel to help you out with finding one.

A shock sensor is pretty simple for FX boards... it is simply a spring that "bumps" up against a metal contact when it is "shocked" and therefore signals a completion of a circuit (or breaking of it... n/o or n/c whatever).

Anyhow... it's pretty simple--one could probably make it by oneself with a pen spring and some creativity.

It is a digital sensor, unlike an accelerometer (on Erv's board).

well I asked tim if he had any clash sensors and he is fresh out. So, if anyone has one they want to get rid of PM me. Otherwise I'm gonna have to do what you said nova; Get creative.

OR, you could use one from a hasbro

thats what i'm doing. its a lot easier to get a hold of than an mr sensor. $20 at walmart or toys r us and you're set. i also have a question about soldering to those leads on the mr board. i'm having some issues soldering on my clash sensor without melting the plastic around the lead or getting solder on the leads next to it. i figure this is a good place to ask for any tips on this since they would probably help proximal's situation as much as it would help me. :D

I desoldered the connections and got rid of the white connector piece. Then it was a simple matter to put a tiny bit or pre-tinned wire thru the hole and solder it on the backside.

Easy breezy.
